(EN) Four years after the release of Omakase Colors Vol.1, the label proudly presents the third chapter in the series, an exploration of the rich and ever-evolving landscape of electronic music, true to Omakase’s DNA.

Like its predecessors, this compilation connects a dynamic and constantly shifting scene, bringing together a diverse lineup of artists from Marseille, Paris, and Brussels. Shaped by years of creative exchange, it blends Omakase’s longtime collaborators with fresh new voices, each bringing a distinct sonic identity. We’re honoured to share these visions through this V.A.

Driven by a spirit of eclecticism and genre fusion, Omakase Colors Vol.3 moves fluidly between ambient, trip-hop, electronic jazz, UK garage, jungle, IDM, footwork, bass music, and more. Some tracks draw from the meeting of acoustic and electronic worlds, weaving organic textures with cutting-edge production. It’s a blend of energies, where groove-driven club tracks sit alongside introspective compositions, balancing impact and emotion.
A snapshot of electronic music in constant reinvention, Omakase Colors Vol.3 thrives on experimentation, hybridisation, and creative freedom.

Porté une fois de plus par un esprit d’éclectisme et de fusion des genres, ce nouveau volume se joue des frontières stylistiques, oscillant entre ambient, trip-hop, jazz, UK garage, jungle, IDM, footwork, bass music, dub et breakbeat. Un savant mélange d’énergies où groove organique et sound design affûté cohabitent, entre morceaux taillés pour le dancefloor et compositions plus introspectives. Cette sélection musicale faite main capte l’effervescence d’une scène électronique en perpétuelle réinvention, animée par une volonté d’expérimentation, d’hybridation et de liberté créative totale.

Dans la lignée des précédents volets, Omakase Colors Vol.3 tisse des liens au sein même d’une scène émergente en constante mutation, réunissant une palette d’artistes basés entre Marseille, Paris et Bruxelles. Hypercolour label boss Alex Jones hits a purple patch of late, firing out left of centre and decidedly wonky electronic beasts.  On his latest two track single ‘Contact’/’Told U’, the seasoned producer continues this run of infectious tunes.

With a prolific career spanning decade, Jones, one half of techno duo Dense & Pika, as well as producing under the Minder moniker, continues to push boundaries in electronic music. 

‘Contact’ melds a looping piano motif, energetic beats and some skewed sound manipulation, whilst ‘Told U’ is a low-slung affair, micro samples and sonic design work sprinkled over a chugging groove.

Now one of dance music’s most respected DJs, Avalon Emerson first made a name for herself in the storied warehouse scene of her birthplace, San Francisco, before relocating to Berlin in 2013. Over a decade of performances at the famed Berghain led to appearances at numerous festivals around the world which all cemented Emerson, and her evocative, genre- and decade-spanning sets, as perennially in demand. 

In 2020, she released her first full-length collection: a contribution to the longrunning DJ-Kicks series (which Resident Advisor described as “The sound of a well-honed DJ at the top of her game.”), nestled alongside a steady stream of remix releases for the likes of Four Tet, Slowdive, Robyn and more.

Next up was 2023’s Avalon Emerson & The Charm, an instant classic which saw Emerson exploring her singing voice and more traditional songwriting outside of the boundaries of her dance music work.  Created after a move to New York, the resulting & The Charm album was released to critical acclaim, landing on numerous critics’ best-of-the-year lists.

The stage is now set, then, for her to carve out a wholly unique path, and with the help of new label home and indie giant, Dead Oceans, Emerson is poised to connect her various musical endeavors to create an untouchably rich output of material. First up is Perpetual Emotion Machine, consisting of songs created for her DJ sets, delivered via a living, evolving project and announced ahead of her worldwide tour.
