PREMIERE: A Psychic Yes - Blood Moon [Nummer Music]

Seb Wildblood invites SOS Music co-founder Maddy Maia to mark her debut solo EP on All My Thoughts. An introspective record for the dance floor, fuelled by her journey through a challenging music industry. 

The London born / LA based DJ/producer, radio host, label owner, event curator and A&R has dedicated a decade to nourishing artists with a focus on female and gender minorities, elevating new talent through her mostly female DJ sets and radio shows on Worldwide FM & DUBLAB, and most notably of late via the SOS Music (Sisters Of Sound) imprint and curated events series of which she co-founded with DJ Tottie in 2019. ‘With U’ is a full circle story of a dedicated tastemaker reflecting on her contribution to the community.

Sonically, title track ‘With U’ is a nod to seminal oldskool genres that Maddy grew up on, breaks, drum n bass and rave. “I love that this element is back in dance music again!”she explains. ‘Fembot Fashion’ represents the music you’d expect to hear throughout a Maddy Maia DJ set; it's seductive and fresh. The EP doesn’t just represent Maddy’s sonic palette though, it’s a breakthrough in confidence and culmination of charged emotions. 

Maddy Maia - “After being behind the scenes for so long working in A&R - which has been a difficult journey at times - I’m finally feeling confident enough to put my own music out there . It was a very different landscape when I started my career in music. I was so scared of producing, thinking I needed loads of gear I couldn’t afford and spent a long time with imposter syndrome intimidated by the scene. All reinforced by the environment around me being fairly toxic in my early days working in music, a reason clearly driving my work with SOS Music. A lot of emotion has come out in these tracks. They’re my love letters to the dancefloor (dancing has always been intense therapy and probably one of the reasons I was drawn to club culture in the first place) but also the soundtrack to a charged snapshot in history. I made Fembot Fashion when we got the Roe vs. Wade news in the USA and at that moment all our work on championing diversity with SOS Music and throughout my time in the industry just suddenly felt pointless. I was so angry, and happened to have a weekend to myself so I sat in my little studio in East LA and channeled some of that fierce energy I was feeling into this track.

Pablo Auguste and Kilian "K2" Rebreyend are De Phase. Accustomed to numerous jazz-funk-soul bands and formations, the two young musicians decided, back in 2021, to start their first project as a new duo : the result of their own background and their electronic aspirations. Initially conceived for live performance, De Phase was born on stage and grew on tour throughout France. Quickly enough, in front of an audience or in the studio, De Phase is unanimously appreciated.

Their first album, « Bonjour" is the result of years of touring, revitalizing their jazz, funk and soul background and experimenting in the studio. For their first piece of their discography, they deliver a 10-track album that formalizes their signature hybrid sound: a deliberate meeting of Max Graef's filtered-offbeat house and the ardour of the new English jazz and RNB scene. An album that also marks this convergence between the stage, the studio ; the acoustic and the electronic.

Surrounded by their close friends and long-time collaborators, 'Bonjour' is family affair. Starting with the participation of Guy Rebreyend, K2's own father, here on saxophone on the beat for "Mr. K", or his brother Matisse on the sweat RNB track "Honey Love". This is followed by many featuring, including the 2000’s RNB single "Obsessed" with Algerian-Norwegian singer Nancy Khadra and the French- Cameroonian singer Ndobo Emma. Singer Stace is also featured on 'When It Comes To Me', with Jeenko as co-producer.
Following the release of « Bonjour » De Phase is soon embarking on a 15+ date tour , including a date with Kamaal Williams, one at Jazz à Vienne and at the Festival Radio France.

Now one of dance music’s most respected DJs, Avalon Emerson first made a name for herself in the storied warehouse scene of her birthplace, San Francisco, before relocating to Berlin in 2013. Over a decade of performances at the famed Berghain led to appearances at numerous festivals around the world which all cemented Emerson, and her evocative, genre- and decade-spanning sets, as perennially in demand. 

In 2020, she released her first full-length collection: a contribution to the longrunning DJ-Kicks series (which Resident Advisor described as “The sound of a well-honed DJ at the top of her game.”), nestled alongside a steady stream of remix releases for the likes of Four Tet, Slowdive, Robyn and more.

Next up was 2023’s Avalon Emerson & The Charm, an instant classic which saw Emerson exploring her singing voice and more traditional songwriting outside of the boundaries of her dance music work.  Created after a move to New York, the resulting & The Charm album was released to critical acclaim, landing on numerous critics’ best-of-the-year lists.
