The "Only You" project first began when Madeline Austin wrote these lyrics back in 2018. They sat in her notebook for a few years before she recorded a rough demo that my manager Peter forwarded to me in November of 2021. At the time, it was written on the piano and recorded with her phone. I remember studying in the FSU library when I first heard the demo, and instantly had goosebumps. I knew this one was going to be so special. I then reached out to Madeline and we got to work on it right away. I hope that this track resonates with you as it has with us. We're so excited to finally share it.

I had my first introduction to electronic music with the release of Odesza's album "In Return" in 2014. I was instantly obsessed, and since then I have always had a passion for edm. During my senior year of high school (2017-2018) Illenium's album "Awake" was released, and it completely changed my perspective of what electronic music could be. The vocals, production, and emotion of those tracks were unlike anything I had ever heard. That album got me through some very hard times, and I wanted to do the same for someone else through music. Towards the end of senior year I downloaded Ableton (a popular program for music production). I was incredibly overwhelmed. I had no prior musical knowledge or experience, and Ableton is extremely difficult to jump into. I learned quickly that it takes a tremendous amount of knowledge, creativity, and hard work to produce music. This was a discouraging revelation. Every few months I would sit down, produce a terrible track, close my laptop and move on thinking "this just isn't for me". Then around December of freshman year of college, a switch flipped in my mind. I decided that I was not going to stop until I learned music production. That was about three and a half years ago, and I'm still working hard to produce music with emotion, something people can connect with. I truly believe that no heart makes dreams work and time can't match.
