Ave Maria Overdrive were born in Zurich, Switzerland in 2016, as the creative brainchild of Caccia Schiacciatore (Guitar, Synths, and Drums) and Captain Bitrage (Bass, Synths, and Drums), an artistic child which suffers from severe Attention Deficit Disorder and musical Tourette’s syndrome.  
The group was conceived by the two musicians after years of abortive attempts at finding a creative outlet for their musically adventurous ideas, an enterprise which dates as far back as 1994, when they first formed a band together. While they had remained active in the world of music throughout the years, with Caccia Schiacciatore playing guitar for metal group No Brain and Captain Bitrage becoming a member of alternative metal bands Aggressive Sound Painters and Labia (all from Zurich, Switzerland), none of these ventures were able to express their eclectic musical tastes in full, hence Ave Maria Overdrive were brought to life. Containing in their DNA such disparate musical strains as disco, post-punk, thrash-metal, electro, bossa nova and the irreverent use of sampled voices and sounds, the duo nevertheless also display a keen ear for the infectious pop hook throughout their work. All these elements are pulled together and woven into an intricate tapestry, which mirrors the hypertextual reality of living in the Now, where every moment in space and time is just a click away.  
As a live-entity, the musicians merge sampling with instrumental performances, enhancing their soundscapes with their visual equivalents or opposites in the shape of unique and evocative video-projections. In terms of studio-releses, the duo has just completed work on a four song EP entitled “Photogenic Melodies,” a collaborative effort with singer Skiba Shapiro of Hopes & Venom (post-rock) and Lou Ees (alternative dream pop, both from St. Gallen, Switzerland), who will also be joining the duo for concerts. The recordings were mixed by Flo Schär (whose production credits include Greis and Knuts Koffer) and mastered by Mandy Parnell (who has done award-winning work for Bjork, Feist, Tame Impala etc.).
