Since the launch of our website we have been wondering who to ask for the first one in a new series of mixes until one of our absolute favourite DJs in the whole world placed an order in the store. Naturally, we wasted no time and immediately seized the opportunity to ask him for a mix. He was happy to do so and delivered very quickly.

We are excited to present to you this wonderful mix by the legendary digger, DJ and resident at the infamous Potato Head Beach Club in Bali that is DJ Dea. Just how he has managed to remain so fairly unknown for all those years is an absolute mystery to us.

Some acts need little more than a good name and a stack of great works to attach to it in order to gain the accolades they deserve. Such is the case with Good Block, this mischievous London unit whose portfolio of musical shenanigans increases in quantity as much as it grows in quality, amounting to a solid body of work of which this episode of Gop Cast is another stellar chapter. One that, in their own words is "a bit deeper for us (ambient/ slo-mo/chug) but we really enjoyed doing this one. It features a few new productions from us and some recent finds old and contemporary."

That’s what we thought. The next couple of weeks, we will be asking one artist each week to deliver a mix build around a self-picked theme. Who else would be better to kick off with than our dear friend Palms Trax? Not only has Jay been a favourite of ours for years, he has become probably everyone else’s as well. His contribution to In Focus is one we have listened to in one go: a “100% originals, features, edits and remixes by Joaquin Joe Claussell” mix, which resulted in a stirring and spiritual tribute to one of the all-time greats.

Palms Trax: “Over the last couple of years I’ve found his music to have this wonderful effect on a dancefloor where the whole place can feel like it’s levitating, so when lockdown hit I started going through his records at home and found it to be incredibly healing. Hopefully some people out there feel the same way!“.
