Sinchi returns with a collaborative EP from Eklektique and Anastasia Zems.

Eklektique is a sound producer and DJ. Released on labels: Leveldva, NEIN (DE), Alzaya (IT), Veneno (MX) and resident of Somatik sound system. Joining him and returning to Sinchi is Anastasia Zems, a creative soul who weaves electronic beats with soothing vocals who has previously released on Hard Fist, Les Yeux Orange and Ransom Note (amongst ohers).

Kicking off with ‘Asyd’ Eklektique combines several genres and creates a unique track including energetic bass lines, looped acid and trance melodies, industrial EBM elements and an indie dance groove.

Anastasia Zems ‘ Consequences’ is a track that plunges into a dark trance-EBM journey where the main message is the idea that every action has consequences.

Completing the trio, is the title track…. a weapon inspired by early trance, filled with acid, Anastasia's vocals and a bright old-school synth sound.

3 tracks that are sure to kick start any underground dance-floor into life.

The non-profit label will again donate all proceeds to supporting Indigenous Forest guardians in the Brazilian Amazon via their own foundation.

The tenth instalment of Clergy sees host to the second collaborative project between lifelong friends Jorden Hodgetts and Sam Coates (Cleric and Setaoc Mass) split over two discs. The first disc presents three driving rhythmic orientated tools, 'Odyssey', 'Isolation' and 'Centre of the Cyclone', which are sculpted flawlessly for the dance-floor. You can see a continuous theme surrounding the release, the exploration of escapism is perfectly introduced by a foreboding message courtesy of John C. Lily: "Be in the present..."

The second disc progresses as a means to go on, with the sonic emphasis moving more towards tone and melody. The sweeping pads of 'Madame Butterfly' and the sinister strings of 'subconscious life' give the songs a feeling of satisfying unease, while the electro-twinged melody of '188' evokes emotion from start to finish. Last on the EP is 'Exploration X', an ambient voyage which beautifully rounds off the record. CRG010 will also end the second series of releases on Clergy, starting a new look and bringing in a new photographer for the next series.

Cleric x Setaoc Mass - Centre of the Cyclone

This was my first set in Tokyo upon moving back in early 1998. I was playing off DATs (digital audio tapes) and hadn't played for a couple of months (the previous set was the Vancouver Art Gallery performance, some film footage of which is on my YouTube channel). I'd received a lot of new music and had only one practice session at a friend's house before the gig. I was really nervous but soon got into the flow and the atmosphere in the room was fantastic. I opted for longer mixes with a focus on the long melodic line, as was often the case with Goa music of the time - and in fact that's how it was composed and meant to be played, according to a number of producers who told me as much.

The set started at around 3am and went until about 5:30. I had intended to start with Beast's 'Spawn', which was still unreleased but a promo of which I'd been sent by Twisted, but the CD player hadn't been hooked up to the mixer, so my ambient intro (the Astralasia track with which I started the 'Future Was Now' mix which is also on my Soundcloud) went on a little longer than expected while I looked for a DAT to mix into it - and that ended up being 'Maia' by the Pleiadians. I only remembered that I'd intended to record my set part-way through the second track, Eco's 'UFOlk', which is where this recording picks up. The set then took a very different direction than expected ... but went exactly where it needed to go.

One of the reasons I love this set so much is that the process I was going through as a DJ - the in-the-moment spontaneity, the emotion, the exploration - really comes through in the performance. This was a time when 'preparing' a set was not done - it was more or less assumed that you would be playing off-the-cuff, perhaps with a sense of where you'd go but not fully, and that in-the-now-ness creativity is some of what 'primed' the music to electrify the dancefloor. As much as I actually had a hard time while I was playing this set and wasn't sure how successful it was, when I listened to the recording I liked what was there... How much of life is like that, where we appreciate things more afterwards instead of in the moment - despite the moments being filled with what we actually wanted? Interestingly, I found that the same synchronicity that characterized my experience behind the decks will start to show up in the room when I play this recording now ... so if I'm ever looking to break through a creative block or experience some cosmic synchronicity, this is a recording that I line up to help me move through it, just as I did back then.
