When thinking of humility, wrapped in talent and topped with a winning personality, she pops to mind. This young lady, Avi ‘Avii’B’ Charles, was born June 12th, 1991 and is no stranger to the mic. Growing up was very tough, however, throughout her younger years as far as her memory can reach, she’s always been a fan of music. A lover of Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Shania Twain, NSYNC and Backstreet Boys she’s always been. So when it was time to find an escape to deal with the hand she was dealt, the solution readily presented itself, music. 
Adorably, at the age of four (4), Avi found herself singing via phone on a Christmas Radio program, then surprisingly at the age of seven (7), again found herself singing; this time on a stage competing in popular competition, Digicel Rising Star. Now, despite making it to finals, she was not afforded the luxury of competing due to no one being available to accompany her to Barbados where she was due to perform. 
In defiance of the hiccup with Digicel’s competition, she did not waver in her decision to compete in future competitions. In fact, since then, she’s graced the stages of Grenada Got Talent and GBN Gospel Challenge. Actually, all known music competitions that were held, she made it her duty to be present as a competitor. Unfortunately, victory kept slipping through her fingers and always left her basking in feelings of the “not good enough” nature, but she did not let it consume her. 
In spite of a lack of studio access, under her belt are twenty (20) original songs which have all been written by her. Even with nowhere to record and her dream of building a school for music at home in Grenada being years away, she’s shown her passion for music in another way. Taking to social media platform Instagram, Avi went forth and created a virtual competition for genres that aren’t Soca. This was done with the aim of creating a safe place for folks whose interests lay in alternative genres to Soca. With crossed fingers, she’s hoping to make the competition regional as while auditions were being held, folks region-wide sent singing clips of their own. 
With a preference of Tea over Coffee and Sprite over Coke, she just also happens to be an Administrative Assistant who boasts a certification in Wedding Planning. A group of words that she subscribes to that lend a helping hand in navigating through life are, “Try everything once and love with no regrets.” Reflecting on the youth, words of advice to the younger folk from her would be, “Do not change what you love, say yes to opportunities and do not conform.”
