Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's String Quartet No. 17 in B-flat major, K. 458, nicknamed "The Hunt", is the fourth of the Quartets dedicated to Haydn. It was completed in 1784. It is in four movements:

Allegro vivace assai
Menuetto and Trio. Moderato
Adagio, in E-flat major
Allegro assai

Neither Mozart nor Artaria called this piece "The Hunt." "For Mozart's contemporaries, the first movement of K.458 evidently evoked the 'chasse' topic, the main components of which were a 6/8 time signature (sometimes featuring a strong upbeat) and triadic melodies based largely around tonic and dominant chords (doubtless stemming from the physical limitations of the actual hunting horns to notes of the harmonic series)."According to Irving, Mozart's first intention was to conclude with a polonaise and sketched 65 bars (p. 17).

Its popularity is reflected in its use in various films, such as The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Mystery Date, The Royal Tenenbaums and Star Trek: Insurrection.

Quartet No. 17 in B-Flat Major, L. 458 "The Hunt": III. Adagio

This sound was one of many that made up the aural element of lll Movement, a temporary installation created where the old National Library of Singapore used to stand. 

This site‐specific installation was a collaboration between Tang Ling Nah, atelier | small and myself. The work explored the cycle of construction, deconstruction and renewal within the city and was comprised of three zones―remembering, contemplating and transforming―reminiscent of three movements in a single musical composition. Sound recordings from the urban environment are transformed and fused with architectural elements made from construction waste to create a distinct aural‐spatial experience. The work encouraged the public to slow down, stop and contemplate the perpetual cycle of urban transformation through the act of listening. It was 1 of 7 proposals to be chosen for Hub-to-Hub Singapore, 2011.

A familiar face with an unfamiliar sound.... That is the agenda for the latest edition of the Monday mix series as we invite Jimpster to contribute to our ever growing series. The Freerange Records boss remains a stalwart of the dance and electronic music scene having released a healthy assortment of music across some twenty odd years. His record label remains a consistent staple of house, disco and techno with Freerange having released music by the likes of Tony Lionni, Demuja, Detroit Swindle, Hanna and many more. 

Whilst Jimpster isn't stereotypically known for his take on ambient music we leapt at the prospect of him delivering an alternative mix of eclectic selections.
