This song is a personal journey through 3 major archetypes in human existence. The first part of the song is about life's struggles & adversity. Secondly, a beautiful moment of self-realization & growth is signalled by the tribal flute in the breakdown. Finally the third and final stage of pure happiness and celebration at the main drop.

The name of the song comes from:

Known as a fertility god, prankster, healer and story teller, Kokopelli has been a source of wonder throughout the country for centuries. Although his true origins are unknown, this travelling, flute-playing Casanova is a sacred figure to many first nations communities. Carvings of this hunch-backed flute-playing figure have been found painted and carved into rock walls and boulders throughout the Southwest.

There are many myths about the famous Kokopelli. One of which is that he travelled from village to village bringing the changing of winter to spring; melting the snow and bringing about rain for a successful harvest. It is also said that the hunch on his back depicted the sacks of seeds and songs he carried. Legend also has it that the flute playing also symbolized the transition of winter to spring. Kokopelli’s flute is said to be heard in the spring’s breeze while bringing warmth. It is also said that he was the source of human conception. Legend has it that everyone in the village would sing and dance throughout the night when they heard Kokopelli play his flute. The next morning, every maiden in the village would be with a child.

Whatever the true meaning of Kokopelli is, he has been a source of music-making and dancing and spreading joy to those around him. Even today, Kokopelli, with his hunchback and flute, is always welcome in our homes.

SimbaSōl is an electronic music producer, performer and recording artist  from Montreal. Influenced by melodic house & techno, he uses hard hitting baselines, groovy percussions & four dimensional synths to create soulful musical adventures. 

Raised by dancing hippies, SimbaSōl himself was dancing the moment he learned to walk. He grew up around the campfire with Djembes and Harmonicas, and he was exposed to a music-induced lifestyle that later became his passion. Eventually he found his calling under the disco ball, making the jump to the world of modern music production and attending the Cosmic Academy to chase his artistic dreams.

SimbaSōl has dedicated his life to music ever since and he's sharing his passion for life, not only through playing and performing, but also through inspiring others to feel free and enjoy each moment. That is also the message he is conveying in his music - to trigger emotions, to release emotions, to connect, and to celebrate life.

The road has just begun for the promising artist with his debut solo act in 2021 at Front Republic in Montreal, and with a long list of heavy hitting releases in the pipeline in 2022 the future looks brilliant for SimbaSōl!

Welcome to Saṃsāra.

An emotional ballad conceived to land whatever journey the listener is on & set the table for what is to come.

The first song “Rhodes”  is a place to reflect and integrate what is felt inside. An open invitation to look in the rearview mirror. Before walking blindly on, why not delve into what lies within? Why not look into the mirror to find the elements of our past that are holding the puppet strings of our lives? To understand them, and love them in order to let go of them.  

Once the dirty work is done,  “Le Rêveur” is intended to be a vessel for looking forward. A realm to imagine the ideal world we aspire to live in. To dream big dreams! Ones that are not rooted in our individual egos, but rather in the same heart that we all share.

In Buddhism, Saṃsāra is often defined as the endless cycle of birth, death, and rebirth. In literal terms, the Sanskrit word saṃsāra means "flowing on" or "passing through." My current focus is on the micro level of deaths and rebirths that happen within me every hour of every day. These songs are a gateway into the path I walk of letting go & trusting the flow of my own destiny.

It is my sincere hope they can serve that purpose for all that listen.

Fabian Krooss & Frida Darko - Phoenix [A Tribe Called Kotori]

Following a cascade drop of singles that kept everyone on their toes this past couple of months, time has come to unveil Fabian Krooss' eagerly awaited debut long-player, 'Colorfuel'. A portmanteau word for the vivid colourful spectrum that infuses Krooss' blends and that role of energetic provider it plays, 'Colorfuel' oozes a vibrant mix of dance floor-ready dynamism and effervescing curiosity, packed with surprises at every corner. Completed and finished in the Autumn of 2023, Krooss' debut album takes you on a smooth journey from start to finish, showing the variety in his productions, spanning from melancholic to uplifting, playful to funky and deep to chill. Starting with the soulful 'Oh Darlin', Krooss steers us on the path of laid-back Chicagoan rhythms and feelgood Afro soulfulness, weaving solar-powered sensitivity with vaporous floor dynamics to hypnotic effect. A further balmy slice of atmospheric electronica tinged with hints of dream-pop and balearic house, "Staring" cruises at its own tranquil pace across colour-shifting horizons and gently jagged reliefs. Pumping out an exquisite blend of sluggish house jack alongside archetypal Andalusian flavours and bass-driven manoeuvres, 'Phoenix' (feat. Frida Darko) ticks all the boxes of a festival season-ready chugger, whereas 'Move Your Booty' relies on a slightly more low-slung melody and further languid swing. Drawing in a more subdued palette of rhythmic elements, sprinkled with an eerie melody and stripped-back synth funk, 'Inside of Me' makes for a perfect transition track, with 'Manaki' going a further jagged route, as Krooss draws further deep into the Italo style, infusing his stellar arps and brittle piano chords with a thick FX gravy. Contorting itself at the junction of straightforward jack and a more prog-minded construction that seem tailored for stadiums, 'Elasticity' (with Atish) finds Krooss at his most precise and adroitly versatile. Beaming up unadulterated joy and sunrays across its six minute-ish ride, 'Coquin' bounces back and forth, ushering us into a jam-packed hacienda where the thick volutes of freshly lit havanas coalesce with the exhilarating scent of ron. A trippy ride down memory lane, 'Back To The Oldschool' conjures up images and components straight out the 90s, buzzing with that fun swash of hip-hop and tech-tinged hybrid. A delicate slab of balearic-informed deep house, 'Mtende' serves up a lascivious mishmash of coastal iridescence and sub-Saharan style polyrhythms. Topping off that broad sweep across house's manifold colour chart, 'Tied In Knots' (feat. Harry Charles) treats us to an elevating mix of Spanish guitars and 303-marinated acid bass, taking us from classicism up the modernist ladder in the blink of an eye.

Sharon Pieksma, aka SHARE has toured across the world, bringing her good vibes and positivity wherever she goes, from Switzerland to South Africa, Amsterdam to Argentina, and WooMoon both in Tulum and Ibiza. Firewalk EP, out on Oliver Koletski’s A Tribe Called Kotori label on 31 st May, brings you the essence of her amazing experiences and the multitude of amazing people that have inspired SHARE on her travels.

 Turn your watch back a year. SHARE is playing an incredible festival in Africa. Inspired by the beats, syncopated rhythms, and the treasure trove of sounds that musicians in the Northern Hemisphere rarely get to delve into, SHARE was inspired. The Netherlands born artist quicky started experimenting with these beats and melodies and laid down the solid groove that forms the roots of this incredible EP.

The first track, Bubbles, has you hooked from the first bar, layers of percussion building on top of each other effervescent rhythm surfacing simultaneously like the carbonation in your copa de cava. This is a fun track designed to make you feel good. And it succeeds. SHARE adds a trademark melodic alto synth hook at around 50 seconds in, rising, cutting, dropping, building, and pulling you into this glass of vintage quality. Close your eyes and you could be at that very festival, the last dance in the darkness before daybreak. At three minutes in, Bubbles is stripped back to a glorious life affirming synth melody. Spread your arms wide and feel the sunrise across the desert planes with those around you, sharing this moment of pure joy.

SHARE adds: "Bubbles is about the amazing build-up, new sounds added on the way, and beautiful break. I wanted to keep it very groovy and uplifting to ensure that it makes you dance and have a good time, uplifts your mood, and gives you a good feeling! I named the track Bubbles because I love drinking bubbly drinks, including fizzy water and wine.”

The second track, the titular Fire Walk builds from these rhythmic roots into a broad, beautiful melodic trunk of intertwining Jupiter 8 and Juno 106 and synth melodies. The Dutch musician supreme takes you further towards the vast blue sky. From here, branches take you in all directions. This is more than just melodic. This is something special- funky piano lines reaching like outspread arms, cosmic guitars blossoming at their fingers. A sultry vocal sample pans left and right, taking you back to the bass. SHARE shows off her impressive jazz piano skills on the Kontakt Noire as the intensity builds once more, then expertly strips the layers back to a solid Minimoog modular beat.

SHARE tells us more: “I first created Fire Walk as a melodic techno track, in which the melodic techno sound is very present. But I added many elements. Fire Walk is a very special track to me. In the break, I wanted to create a moment of reflection in which to love yourself and everyone around you- a moment to be present, a moment to smile. Then a big drop brings you back to reality and you dance your ass off.”

Fire Walk EP is the perfect release to put a huge smile on your face as the mercury starts to rise, on dance wfloors, beaches, desert planes and verdant fields around the world this summer. So put your hands up with SHARE and give a little gratitude to the universe.
