Next on Continental is the re-release of long forgotten hit ‘No Memory’ by Scarlet Fantastic, which has been given a surprise rebirth thanks to a batch of intuitive remixes by the likes of The Swiss’ Luke Million and Monday Club.
 
The combination of Maggie K de Monde’s visionary pro-hippy flights of lyricism, throbbing T-Rex glam riffs and solid PWL disco beat spiced by some challenging 12” reworks turned Scarlet Fantastic ‘No Memory’ into one of the anthems of the Summer of Love’s balearic generation in the late 80s/early 90s, championed by Andy Weatherall and Boys Own in London as well as Alfredo in Ibiza.
 
Since her illustrious career as singer in the chart topping 80s bands Scarlet Fantastic and Swans Way, Maggie K de Monde’s never stopped creating and performing  music, regularly developing new associations and arrays of collaborations. After meeting by luck on social nertworks, Continental’s A&R Jerry Bouthier soon offered Maggie to revive this lost gem by giving it to a varied cast of remixers that would truly do justice to the spirit of the song.
 
First is Luke Million, The Swiss’ loveable keyboard whizz from Down Under has reworked a delicious melodic progression backed by an icy ‘I Feel Love’ bassline, impossible to resist his version’s been picked up for the video. London’s latest mysterious duo Monday Club take things to a dark housey basement without losing the drama of the original, beware this rocks. Father and son Freegard & Freegard are hot shots in their own rights and riotous when in the same studio, check their turbo re-rub. Last but not least, Maggie K de Monde’s current project with Mark Leaf Mighty K provides a campfire version that sure gives yet more depth to this freedom song which has stood the test of time and is as relevant today as it was 27 years ago!

After a string of seminal releases through recognised imprints such as Future Classic, Nervous and Kitsune, Luke Million proudly joins the etcetc family with his new EP, ‘Light and Sound’.

Luke’s unique take on cosmic disco makes nods to the past, present and the future - a fuelled up mix of melodic, harmonic pop, synth masterwork, and propelling beats. ‘Arlond’ and ‘Midnight’ were both crossover cult classics and ‘Light and Sound’ looks set to join them. Recently Luke’s also been lending his remixing skills to a ton of artists - including Olympic Aires, Young Franco, City Riots, Young Franco, Peta and The Wolves, and his other band The Swiss.

Celebrated and Mercury-nominated UK duo Rae & Christian released their first new material for ten years in 2013 on Night Time Stories/Late Night Tales after spending the last decade meditating in a Buddhist monastery in Swindon. This year the label commissioned a series of remixes from Mercury Rising and Mang Dynasty (aka Ray Mang & Bill Brewster) take on Favourite Game featuring rising star of the Swindon Buddhist circuit Jake Emlyn.

Mang Dynasty focus on Gita Langleyʼs backing vocal hooks, adding a chorus piano motif and stretch things out into an epic nine minute plus main version aimed squarely at the dancefloor (and Afghanistan). Jake Emlynʼs more aurally-pleasing melodic parts are utilised towards the end taking things up another level to a happy finish. Initial reactions have been so strong it seemed rude not to slip out a 12-inch on Mangled, home of the hits. Presented here on heavyweight 180g 12-inch vinyl complete with Instrumental and Bonus Beats on the flip for your listening pleasure. Digital to follow on Night Time Stories in the New Year.
