Luuk van der Sterren en Darko Lagunas deden onderzoek naar de zeldzame mineralen die nodig zijn voor de bouw van windmolens. Europa wil in de delving van deze grondstoffen voor windmolens graag zelfvoorzienend zijn. Maar dat is niet zo eenvoudig, want de bewerking van zeldzame mineralen laat afval achter waar omwonenden van mijnen niet op zitten te wachten. Hoe kan het dat er aan deze groene energie zo’n smerig randje zit?

De minder florissante kant van windmolens

Met de boycot van Russische olie door de EU, die op 5 december van kracht wordt, en een prijsplafond dat de G7-landen voor diezelfde olie willen instellen, gaat de economische strijd tegen Rusland een nieuwe fase in. Grote vraag is: wat zal het effect zijn? Over die boycot, over olie en de mondiale markt in historisch perspectief praat ik met Lucia van Geuns, Strategisch Adviseur Energie bij het The Hague Centre for Strategic Studies, die recent de hoogste onderscheiding in haar vakgebied ontving.

Jarenlang was Joris Wijnhoven actief in de politiek en het actiefwezen, voor GroenLinks, Milieudefensie en Greenpeace. Sinds kort is hij specialist Energiesysteem bij de NVDE. Ik praat met hem over zijn stelling dat iedereen die van industrie af wil en daarbij géén oog heeft voor de consequenties voor mensen of CO2-doelen in andere delen van de wereld, aan emissie-imperialisme doet.

Met de invoering, vorig jaar, van het Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) wil de Europese Unie z’n eigen uitstoot verder verlagen, ‘koolstoflekkage’ voorkomen en zo een gelijk speelveld voor Europese bedrijven garanderen. Is die CBAM na het Draghi-rapport, steeds meer handelsconflicten én deglobalisering nog wel de oplossing? Ik vraag het Mohammed Chahim (PvdA), lid van het Europees Parlement en CBAM-rapporteur.

Roswitha & Paboona traveled all the way from Amsterdam to Kiel to serve some of their favorite flavors at ‘Techno Brunch’ in the Orange Club. Of course they couldn’t think of a better platform other then House Buffet to release their set for dessert.

As an appetizer, they bring freshly picked deephouse to the turntables to get you started. Once the dancefloor is heated up, the spicy synths come smooth and fluently al dente as the main.
