Selected by British DJ and vinyl hunter Paul Hillery, new BBE Music compilation ‘We Are The Children Of The Sun’ showcases a shimmering collection of rare folk funk and AOR with a distinctly Balearic feel.

Former tour DJ for Polyphonic Spree and the man behind YouTube channel and mix series ‘Folk Funk & Trippy Troubadours’, Paul Hillery’s lovingly handpicked musical assembly takes in strummed soft rock, blissful beach beats, the soft fizz of electronica, all carried to your ears by a gentle summer breeze.

The music on ‘We Are The Children Of The Sun’ ranges from hazy, long-forgotten early 70s tapes, right through to digital compositions recorded during lockdown in 2020.

“Tune in” says Paul, “and ruminate while consciousness is awoken with transmissions dropping out from the fringes of psyche tranquillity, holding hands with folk-funk that runs deep and hazy, as the bejewelled turquoise waters lap gently at the ocean’s shore.”

Nemoy and Djemeia met at some sort of band/singer contest in Zurich. He was in the jury – no one knows why – and Djemeia ended up winning that thing. 

After that, Nemoy just didn't stop bothering her with soulful, lo-fi House tracks, until eventually she gave up and recorded these magical vocals over some of his tracks. A perfect fit, right away. 

Alexander "Lay-Far"s fantastic remix work takes that to a whole new level.

Faces Records proudly presents "Cross Section", the debut album of  Kez YM, the Berlin based japanese producer.
It's been a long way since  his debut EP at 4Lux Recordings was played by Moodyman back in 2008. Since then he also received support from influential people like Theo Parrish, Rick Wade and Cassy, just to name a few.
Strongly rooted on his Detroit/Chicago Deep House/Funk/Disco/Afro he rocks dancefloors from Berlin to Tokyo, and he's one of the current leading deep house dj's from Japan.
From downbeat to more uptempo tracks, this album is a perfect extension of Kez's path until now. Classy and lustful synths pave the way for a combination of elements that draw inspiration from his jazz masters, his motorcity heroes and a strong percusssive connection to Africa.

In steps Icelandic born Felix; @FelixLeifur for just under an hour of inspired left-field dance floor wonderment. You may know, Felix for his unmistakably jazz injected yet eerie production style which has been previously picked up and offered up by household outlets such as Icelandic counterparts Lagaffe Tales, Fritz Wenktink's Bobby Donny and of course, Dirt Crew. In fact, he'll be making his return to @Dirt-Crew very soon, so keep your eyes peeled for a premiere hosted by us next week.

As much as we love Felix and his mixtape for us, we have to mention that never has the FH mix machine been left in such a state. Every nook, cranny, corner, nob and button was absolutely coated in a thick layer of dust! Poor Simon (FH Head of facilities)worked tirelessly into the night restoring it to a usable condition. In our morning team meeting, we could only deduce that this was a direct result of his dusty jazz infused production style, which was well and truly emanated through this mixtape. Expect 55 mins of broken beats, silkily woven together by eerie etherial sonic threads. We love you Felix - you can dust up our mix machine any time (sorry Simon).
