Excited to be kicking off yet another year of Awkwardly guest mixes, we could not be happier to get things going with one of our personal favourites and one of Wroclaw's finest, @glassz. Having first seen him play at Massif Festival last summer, we were amazed by the versatility of his selections and next level skills on the ones and twos. With a super busy radio and gigging schedule + regularly performing on HÖR among other things, we can count ourselves lucky that he still found the time to record this beauty of a mix for us. Exhibiting his exquisite taste with razor sharp rhythms and slinky steppers, he aptly strikes the balance between the heavy hitting and the ethereal, making his fearless juggles between 90 and 180 bpm feel smooth and effortless. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for more greatness from this budding DJs DJ in the making!

Who else in October than Octobird. Alias Loom alias Kinskop, the driving force behind the legendary Various Vegetables radioshow. Octobird had a lot of brilliant releases on different labels. One for Zanderhythm as Kinskop, recently he also put out music on Pr0gramma.He is a music lover check his mixes on his soundcloud also he writes about music in a quit entertaining style on his website.Ages ago David Firth took one of his trax for an animation but thats another story.This mix aims to bring some peace into our disturbed minds, so stare out of the window if you still have one.

Zanderhythm MIX #11 - OCTOBIRD

Node co-runs @gatedrecordings with his childhood friend Jadey. While he resides in Japan and Jadey in the UK they have been putting out as much high quality music as they can find from the best up and coming artists, primarily within the realms of electronic music and often experimenting outside the boundaries of specific genres. 

For this mix Node has assembled some tracks from Gated’s latest compilation ‘Triangle’s Peak’, plus one from the new spacey, techy EP by Taupe, 'Rootless', out now on their Bandcamp. Not to mention one from Dip Shim's new album out Dec 16th and available to pre-order on Juno records at the moment. El cierre de Bosque Libre estuvo a cargo de la dupla de dj's  Dra. Snoozelova y Thorsten, quienes invitaron a participar a Matias Rivera, el cual no pudo presentarse en el horario que le correspondía debido a un dialogo con la policia, los cuales querían detener la música pero no lo lograron. 

Dra Snoozelova y Thorsten Broda son músicos y dj's, juntos han participado en proyectos como Los Wawis, grupo ligado a la cumbia, y actualmente en Santiago Analytica, colectivo que desarrolla un sonido en base al uso de sintetizadores. Tiempo atrás Dra Snoozelova estuvo presentándose bajo el nombre de Dj Quiltra.  

El siguiente registro es un set lleno de emoción, mixturas orgánicas, líneas de bajos con harta presencia, sintetizadores e inigualables arreglos vocales, poniendo así el punto final a una jornada que a ratos parecía una ilusión.

Bosque Libre es un encuentro musical que tiene como premisa mantener el espíritu colaborativo por medio de la autogestión. A la fecha cuenta con 5 ediciones en 6 años desde su gestación en el año 2014, tiene la particularidad que se desarrolla en la precordillera del Cajón del Maipo al sur de la ciudad en Santiago de Chile, cercano a la naturaleza, alejado de centro urbanos y señales telefónicas. Acá se busca promover un contexto de integración, diversidad y por sobre todo, brindar libertades individuales a los asistentes. Se han presentado diversos proyectos, tanto en formato banda, solistas como también Dj’s. Gente de Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Brasil, México, Estados Unidos, Holanda y Alemania han pasado por este escenario.

French wielder of exotic machine music Epsilove debuts a full EP of sensuous, melodic electro on Dekmantel. Formerly one-half of Syracuse, Isabelle Maitre depicts a vision of daring, yet euphoric vocal-led, dreamy electro that oscillates with sturdier, warehouse sounds full of heaving 808s, and experimental qualities.

‘Time is the longest distance’ preaches the qualities that brought Antinote’s Epsilove to the distinguished status she has today. It is the sound of chic dancers, shuffling-together leisurely under neon lights, pressing against each other along to nostalgic acid basslines, interstellar synths, and dreamy, cinematic vocals. Rich with harmony, emotion, and cold-wave sensuality. ’Sea Snakes’ pulses faster under a Drexciyan dream-state, painting kaleidoscopic motifs, as the 808 rattles out multi-paced tempos, driving levels of uncompromising Detroit velocities, through to Lynchian-mirror-world listlessness. It’s an acid-acid test of colourful, pulsing electro.

On the remixes are fellow Parisian’s Ali Bobo (Bruits De La Passion) and Shelter (Bigwax Records), who rework ‘Time is the longest distance’ into something more sinister, reflecting the dystopic IDM aesthetics of early Rephlex Records with playful, darkened electronics. The more elusive pairing of French producer HAJJ (Dawn Records) and Lastrack (BFDM) meanwhile, team up to turn ‘Sea Snakes’ into something that harkens towards the world of Warp-like experimental and progressive contemporary post-trap, and breakbeats.
