It’s one that we’re particularly looking forward to as for the first time we have the pleasure of curating a various artists EP - and we believe it turns out to be one that we have plenty of reasons to be excited about!   

From J.Wiltshire’s cinematic ambience to Yushh’s floating wobbles, from Pugilist’s sinister stepper to Lårry’s ghostly glitches, every artist on this EP brings their distinct style and adds to the general vibe and overall great harmony of this record.

We are yet again approaching the end of another year filled with Awkwardly mixes and it's safe to say we're ending it on a bang. Montreal native @diletamtl is an artist we've had our eyes and ears focused on for a good while now. Always spreading positivity on Soundcloud through their curious and encouraging comments, it felt natural we connected and reached out for a contribution to our series eventually. The result of this is everything we had hoped for and more, a genre defying, all moods and flavours encompassing mix that is as eerie as it is cheerful, intense as it is gentle. We hope you enjoy this wonderful stimulation of all senses as much as us. Profitez bien, les potes!

Excited to be kicking off yet another year of Awkwardly guest mixes, we could not be happier to get things going with one of our personal favourites and one of Wroclaw's finest, @glassz. Having first seen him play at Massif Festival last summer, we were amazed by the versatility of his selections and next level skills on the ones and twos. With a super busy radio and gigging schedule + regularly performing on HÖR among other things, we can count ourselves lucky that he still found the time to record this beauty of a mix for us. Exhibiting his exquisite taste with razor sharp rhythms and slinky steppers, he aptly strikes the balance between the heavy hitting and the ethereal, making his fearless juggles between 90 and 180 bpm feel smooth and effortless. Here we go with Awk Cast no. 45, with a mix that aptly reminds us that the time has come to dust off your dancing shoes and embrace spring in the long missed comfort of a sweaty club. Amsterdam native and Berlin based artist @murieldb does brilliantly in telling us just that with this stunning effort, smoothly taking the reigns over our series with her dubbed out and playful selections. Lots of influences come together in these 90 minutes that are eclectic and colourful to fully engage all our senses while similarly relaxed and cool enough to want us keep on grooving forever.

Next up in the Awkardly Cast we have a DJ whose name you better remember, the killer Buenos Aires via Amsterdam and now Berlin-based selector @keinblume. Her hyper creative approach to DJing, both in terms of blending all sorts of musical styles as well as impeccable technique (using effect pedals), took our hearts by storm  when she rocked the crowd at our AWK003 release party last autumn. Awkwardly Cast 046 / Blume

Back on @thfradio, we had the pleasure of hosting yet another exciting up and coming artist. Originally from Cairo but based in Berlin, @azemad is part of a fresh wave of electronic musicians from his native country that are pushing boundaries by fusing cutting edge dance music with traditional Egyptian elements. Tune in to find out more about his  creative inspirations and to get a glimpse into his past and forthcoming releases. Not to be missed in particular is his heater of a guest mix in the 2nd half of the show, drawing tunes almost exclusively from Egyptian and other Arabic producers.

Back in June, our homies from @splot invited us on a super fun mini tour of Poland. An absolute highlight of this trip was @fomoklub, a state of the art venue in Białystok, northeastern Poland, holding the freak flag high for underground culture and showcasing only the finest talent in leftfield, forward thinking electronic music. It was a real pleasure to visit this city and venue, the enthusiasm for creating a quality clubbing experience there left us speechless.

Safe to say he’s been on our radar for a while, so we’re mighty excited to welcome the Wrocław-based producer on AWK005. After a strong debut release on his co-owned SPLOT imprint, an equally solid LP on Regime Brigade as well as contributions to various compilations, dadan is back with his signature moody, bass-bin shaking sound. 

Hitting the sweet spot somewhere between dubstep, grime, breaks and ambient techno, these 4 tracks provide a somber yet seductive quality that invite the listener to get lost in a hazy amalgamation of stylistic elements. Rest assured, this combination of low end and rhythm heavy explorations contains the right formula to cause some damage on the dance floor.
