Remain Ltd 079, Husk EP., is a two-track release signed by Axel Karakasis, who is at his finest and… unstoppable at working his magic on the dancefloor!

Midrange is the epitome of synths and techno all the way! Slamming beats all dressed up with a beautiful range of synths that compose one cheeky theme. And it is so hauntingly good, it almost feels exhilarating! 

Husk rises on the darker side, but is definitely a track with a distinct and very lively vibe.  The highlight of this track is the hint of eastern mystery that is interspersed throughout in the form of an Indian riff.

Axel Karakasis - Husk

The original version of Chihiro 61298 is one of the highlights of the System 7 Phoenix album. A great collaboration with Sebastian Mullaert and Marcus Henriksson (Son Kite/Minilogue) they provide both their electronic jazzy element (Minilogue) and their deep techno-trance element (Son Kite). The Robita Bells Mix is a remix made by Steve and Miquette that is a bit more dreamy-ambient but still with the powerful pulsating beats, and has appeared as a bonus track with some versions of the album.

How this track fits into the Phoenix story?

In what is one of the darkest Phoenix stories – “Resurrection” – Osamu Tezuka works with the intriguing question that preoccupies many science-fiction writers:- can robots have a soul and if so how is that soul formed? Leon is medically reconstructed by futuristic techniques after a horrific accident but feels more in common with robots than with humans and falls deeply in love with the humble secretary robot Chihiro 61298, who he sees as a beautiful woman. Eventually the two are united as one after death, remaining in existence as the soul of the large and friendly robot Robita, who becomes one of the emblematic characters of the whole Phoenix series. This is a story of deep and dark emotions with the magical guidance of the Phoenix hovering in the background.


System 7 with Son Kite - Chihiro 61298 (Robita Bells mix)

Looking through my old DAT's, I found this forgotten gem… This was made in Januray 1999. It's a remix of Atmos' classic Klein Aber Doctor done by myself and George Barker, released as Slinky Wizard vs. Green Nuns Remix….BUT this version was done after we had put down our final mix…. Simon popped round for a cuppa and did a live mix on the mixing desk. In the "olden days" before making everything inside a computer people would make their sequenced mix then put everything on a loop and make a live mix on the analogue mixing desk twisting the FX and EQ's, playing the desk like an instrument……this was a trick learnt from the days of Youth's Butterfly Studios….. Simon P., Ott and Greg Hunter were masters of this.Then you could edit it down into a few minutes. So this is Simon's live mix of our remix….its about 19 minutes long and very psychedelic! Enjoy!
