Electro-funk is back! Following the release of his Balearic-inspired single ‘Sillage’ on Spinnin’ Deep, and his official remix for David Guetta & Anne-Marie hit single ‘Don’t Leave Me Alone’, Grammy-nominated Swiss producer EDX now unveils his incredible nu-disco edit of Chromeo’s 2018 French Montana and Stefflon Don collaboration – ‘Don’t Sleep’.
Heavily inspired by the Italo-house movement which swept across Europe in the late 70s and early 80s, this latest remix sees EDX draw heavily on his early musical roots as he turns his increasingly-diverse production skills to one of Chromeo’s biggest hits to date. Upping the tempo of the original to a dance floor-ready 126bpm, Maurizio keeps the topline largely intact, whilst adding bouncy synth stabs and his signature EDX touch to a series of blissful breakdowns and playful disco-tinted drops.
This remix comes at the end of a truly incredible year for the esteemed DJ, producer and Sirup Music label head, who having just been nominated for a Grammy for his Dubai Skyline remix of Charlie Puth ‘How Long’, is just about to launch his first ever live show concept – XIRCUIT – debuting at Avalon, Los Angeles on December 15.

Combining state-of-the-art lighting and video elements into an interactive, sensory live experience, XIRCUIT is EDX’s first official touring show career and a concept that will be rolled out across festivals and clubs internationally in 2019.

After more than twenty-five years at the helm of electronic music, Swiss-Italian legend EDX still manages to turn heads and move feet with each and every production – his deft creativity and indubitable diversity in the studio making him just as relevant now as he’s ever been. 

Having released two crossover vocal singles already this year with ‘Off The Grid’ and ‘Who Cares’, both of which continue to climb charts worldwide, the Grammy-nominated producer now delivers something entirely different, as he unveils his next epic creation, ‘Ubuntu’.

Due for release on June 21 and already a contender for one of the biggest club tracks of the year, ‘Ubuntu’ bears all the hallmarks of an instant summer hit. Unrelenting tribal percussion dominates the opening two minutes, before an unmistakably catchy steel drum riff gradually enters into the fore. Placed front and centre from there on in, EDX expertly layers the hypnotic central refrain with syncopated textures, captivating rhythms and extended breakdowns throughout, to deliver a truly sizzling Ibiza-inspired cut. 

Gearing up for yet another huge summer of touring, EDX has multiple headline shows confirmed at Hï Ibiza as well as festival performances at the likes of Tomorrowland, Airbeat One, Electric Zoo, Tinderbox and the debut edition of Vibez in his home country of Switzerland. Californian born but now firmly ensconced in his adopted Salt Lake City home, Donny Carr is a leading protagonist in the area's dance music scene. An accomplished DJ and saxophonist, Carr's legendary performances behind the decks has left enraptured audiences across Utah and beyond. A fledgling production career that began in early 2018 blossomed throughout the year with his immaculate blend of deep, tech and progressive house. A debut remixing Jerome Isma-Ae & Alastor for Jee Productions kickstarted a notable career, while further remixes of Stan Kolev for Freegrant and victory in Quivver's "8 Bit Eclipse" remix competition for Controlled Substance has found Carr seated at underground dance's top table.

Now debuting on Yang, the Donny Carr remix of "Final Round" takes the familiar cadenced foundation of T Raum & The Wash's original and treats it to a shaker-fueled percussive groove. Evolving elegantly, a swathe of emotive chord progressions and textured pads create atmosphere before a new arpeggiated motif produces a fresh hypnotic pattern. Waxing and waning with ease, Carr's skill is to take "Final Round" in a stunning new direction while retaining the original track's essence.

It can’t be easy to follow up on one of the biggest club tracks of the summer, but if there’s one man who’s made it his lifelong mission to deliver hit after hit without compromise, it’s EDX.
