We are delighted to welcome French DJ, producer and singer, Baccus, to the label. You will likely know him from his multi-million streaming, French-touch-meets-disco hit with Oden & Fatzo “Can’t Let You Go”. If not that, then his killer Zara-house cut “Feel Your Soul”, will surely have caught you bopping whilst you’ve been shopping. As you might guess, here he revisits the S.O.S. Band’s classic cut with the help of Elliotte Williams-N’Dure and our disco quartet. Add in Baccus’ glittering guitar licks and some superb live bass and you have a Purple Disco style jam of epic proportions. Poolside magic!

Baccus - Just Be Good To Me (Extended Mix)

It’s been a minute since we’ve had our head of A&R, Sam Dexter, on the label. 2022 was the last time we had some Dexter deepness to fill up our USB. However, just listening to this sumptuous slice of underground groove, we all agree that “Just A Dream” is worth the wait! Loopy, skippy drums lead the way before wondrously hypnotic keys and a slow-burning bottom end take the groove into overdrive. Next is Dexter’s own vocal (pitched up, to sound female, like Breach did in “Jack”) tells us it was “All just a dream, just a dream” before a delicious horn solo tops the lot. Like a 90s MAW transported to 2025, this is pure jazzy house brilliance.

“Walk on By” was written by the legendary songwriting duo of Burt Bacharach and Hal David for Dionne Warwick. Dionne’s 1964 version stands up as probably the best version to date, despite having some big hitters recording covers (Isaac Hayes, The Stranglers, Gloria Gaynor). We have a soft spot for the Gabrielle version in the GU office, but, really, Dionne nailed it. When it comes to samples, however, the Isaac Hayes version smashes Dionne out the park with over 100 artists sampling his version, although you could argue that Doja Cat’s 2023 lift of Dionne (“Paint The Town Red”) and its 1B+ streams trumps all of that. The point of all this? Well, nothing more than to show the song is an evergreen staple for artists and producers for the last 50 years. Adding to this now we have Italian producers Skylin3 and Simon Adams who put a deep house spin on the classic melody. Disco beats and a loopy bassline form the groove, add in some delicious chords and that iconic topline, and you have the kind of super-playable deep house that will entertain from poolside to the club. Tasty.

After the success of last years big charting (Traxsource Tech #1, Beatport Afro House Top 20) and Marco Carola approved hit “Midnight Ritual”, The Deepshakerz and Xander Pratt are back with another explosive Afro banger. “Light up the fire, send out the warriors” Xander chants before The Deepshakerz thunderous afro-tech groove slams home. Add in some killer percussion loops and fills and what you have here is an absolute bomb.

Solardo are one of the UK’s strongest club acts. The self-styled “musical chameleons” have created massive hits (“Move Your Body”, “XTC”) and smashed it on the big stages (Glastonbury, Tomorrowland, EDC). Having conquered House and Tech House over the past 5 years, they hit 2025 with a twist. “Outta Space” samples the same Max Romeo classic (“Chase The Devil”, cleared before Romeo’s passing) that the Prodigy did. However, while the concept has been done before, Solardo bring the vocal up to date with a bang, delivering the kind of synth-propelled, bass-bouncing club track that fits in with Max Styler and Solomun’s Indie Dance sound. Released in time for Ibiza openings, this is a huge island anthem in waiting, we can hear this one working venues vast and small over the summer. A scorcher.

Amine Edge is a DJ with a keen nose for a killer tune. As a producer, he's delivered classics; as a label owner (with CUFF), he's been supplying DJs with cooking content since 2014. One of his latest discoveries is TAD, a Parisian producer. This year's CUFF release, "Places", is a superb slice of tech house with a bouncy bassline and clever hooks. Despite his relative anonymity within the DJ community, it went straight onto the playlists of Jen Payne and Kevin McKay. Kevin then contacted him for a GU release, and "Be Mine" resulted. Road-tested at Kevin's recent Fire show, this mix of razor-sharp rhythms and bubbling bass smashed the floor at London's premier 6 am party zone. It's a banger.

It’s been almost a year since we’ve had Rouen-based Deep House don Discosteps on the label. Over the years he’s delivered some bona fide slow-burning jams for us. Always, in the background, Kevin McKay has been helping on production. This time, the pair have decided to shake things up and come with a proper collaboration. “Only You” mixes the sweet soul vocals of Discosteps classics like “What Kind Of Love” with Kevin’s sultry house groove (think “Tom’s Diner”). Together, the result is the kind of wicked party-starter that you might hear from Gorge & Nick Curly on 8 Bit. It’s a peach.

Iconic British production duo Groove Armada return to DFTD with a special, four-track remix package spotlighting leaders of the house scene. First up, Scottish tastemaker and international electronic creative Austin Ato lends his unique sound to the instantly recognisable GA classic ‘I See You Baby’; with early support from the likes of A-Trak, Gina Breeze and Melé, Austin’s immense take on the electronic favourite is sure to dominate the coming festival seasons and beyond. Next up, UK tastemakers Nautica flip 2007’s Love Sweet Sound featuring the iconic Candi Staton on vocals, morphing it into a deep, club-ready cut. What follows is a collaborative remix of ‘My Friend’ from Evokings, DOT and simo not simon, uniting the three Brazilian producers and good friends to create a blissed-out remix that celebrates the unique electronic scene of Rio De Janiero. Closing out this four-track package is French Alpine DJ and producer Eliza Bogan’s hard-hitting remix of breakout hit ‘Superstylin’’, with Groove Armada closing the main stage at 2025’s Snowboxx Festival in Avoriaz to an explosive crowd using this very remix.

Canadian-born, Miami-based PRIMO is an artist on the rise. Last year’s Afro-house anthem, “Mami Colombiana”, kicked things off before two huge collaborations with BADDIES ONLY (now thankfully renamed JOHN ELLE) pushed his silky Reggaeton vocals into overdrive. “No Te Voy A Mentir” follows up his earlier colllab with Kevin McKay, “Freaky”, and continues their vocal-charged Afro. Pitched somewhere between the deeper guitar-based groove of Maz (Br) and the tougher tones of RBOR (with a touch of Buscando Money), this is a dancefloor-friendly Afro house that will work in more chilled musical settings, too. Superb.

Italian born, Ibiza-resident DJ and producer Matteo Dentone has delivered some bombs this year. His releases on Too Many Rules, House’n’Chips and LTF have peppered the House and Jackin’ charts across the stores and hit home with big-time DJs like Franky Rizardo, Jamie Jones and Marco Carola. One listen to his debut for us and it’s easy to see why. “Follow Me” is an effortlessly DJ-friendly groove with a hooky vocal and wickedly funky keyboard lick. Add in some hard-hitting 909 drums and a breakdown to die for and Matteo has another dancefloor winner to add to his lexicon. Proper.

We are delighted to welcome German DJ/production outfit Super Flu to the label. We have been fans of their heady melodic sound since the early 2010s, when they added some dancefloor energy to our deep house sets. Doozie is a name that might not be that familiar to European audiences. Back home in Brazil, it's a different matter. Regularly featuring on line-ups with the likes of Vintage Culture and appearing at the huge Brazilian versions of Tomorrowland and Ultra. His productions cut a similar melodic, feel-good path as Vintage Culture - his 2025 version of "Sinnerman" is a favourite of ours. Here, he teams up with Kevin McKay for a super DJ-friendly deep house workout. "A New Day" features the golden tones of Luke Burr, accompanied by a beat that will deliver all day long, from the beach bar to the main dancefloor. If you enjoyed Kevin's recent collaboration with Discosteps, this is for you.

As a label that is always on the lookout for the freshest new music, there's something extra special about being there for the very beginning of an artist's journey. With less than 1000 monthly listeners and no placings in the DJ charts, zacku will be a new name for most. For us, he's a future deep house star and "Lies" is a slow-burning banger. Its combination of killer chords, lively bass and a hooky, hypnotic vocal passed our "would we buy it" test with aplomb. Dive in.

Last year's collaboration between Fab Massimo and Kevin McKay was one of our favourite records on the label. Their turbo-charged version of "Don't Leave Me This Way" was a hit everywhere Kevin played it, taking the roof off of LGBTQ+ London parties like Roast and Beyond. Kevin's 2018 edit of the Whitney Houston version of this song became a staple in Annie Mac's sets, providing plenty of big-tune moments for Kevin over the years. He had always wanted to create a proper peak-time version, and after he and Fab discussed their next project, this song was the one. Next, up stepped Chantal Lewis-Brown, who, following on from her wicked rendition of "Show Me Love", delivered a barn-storming topline for this. It is a banger of the highest order!

Argentinian tech house technician Blank Sense is an artist on the rise. With releases on Insomniac and Repopulate Mars and DJ support from heavy-hitters like MK, Marco Carolo, Tiesto and Layton Giordani, he is one to watch. We've had this version of the New Order classic as a secret weapon for a while now, and the reactions have been outstanding. Now with a new vocal from Simon Ellis, we can share it with the world—nostalgia tech at its finest.

On the one hand, we have seasoned DJs like Torren Foot, David Penn, Adam Beyer & Mary Jane downloading it and giving feedback like "this is fun", "love it, end of the night ballad" and "This is really classy, love it!".

Then another well-respected DJ told us in no uncertain terms, "He needn't have bothered, it's shocking."

How does Kevin McKay respond to that? "Sometimes I want to make records that are just fun," he says. "Not every release has to be a serious piece of dance music. The industry, however, doesn't like this. I constantly hear that 'people hate covers,' or a well-known label exec is on Twitter telling people to 'stop playing Abba.'

Thankfully, I don't have a traditional label, and I don't have to follow these snobby guidelines. However, I understand that not everyone wants releases with vocals you'd hear at a wedding on a label like Glasgow Underground. So I've set up a new label that allows me to do whatever I want.

WTF is the name of the label, and the first release brings together two of my favourite things, 80s vocals and big disco energy. 

This idea came from a DM I got from a fan, asking me to remix Foreigner. I wasn't sure I could do it, but after the session, I wasn't just convinced - I'd fallen in love with the track. After sending it out to DJs, the response was so positive, I set out to create a legal, releasable version. Up steps Simon Ellis on vocal duties, and here we have it, the 80s classic "I Want To Know What Love Is" turbocharged for 2025 fun-time parties.
