For this new Breton release, Editentités is proud to welcome transe ar gwez from Rennes, delivering four remixes paying tribute to the diverse and engaging discography of musician and composer Roland Becker. 

By collaborating with other artists, but more importantly on his solo albums, Roland Becker used his deep knowledge of Breton culture and music to explore and experiment different styles and practices: celtic jazz (Fallaën, 1982), ethnomusicology and song collecting (Jour de fête & fête de nuit, 1995), electronic music (Chants dans la nuit - Kanou an noz, 2008), Breton folklore and popular melodies (Immrama, 2010)… Tracks Locqueltas, Bortifaouen et Mané Guen are taken from this last record, while Kan Dek is built from a bonus section of the album Chants dans la nuit - Kanou an noz.

Eventually, Roland Becker himself explains it best: “Breton music, if it can be summed up, is just a note. The rest is a pretext.”

"Following up on our first shared endeavor, “Magic Jive” (2020), we are thrilled to continue this journey and introduce you to our first cassette mix, “Matamoros”.

We strived to seamlessly transition from where our previous mix left off, with the former ending “Late Summer Night” echoing at the very beginning of the recording. You will find here a collection of songs that have serenaded our lives over the past three years, mostly re-edited to make them coexist flawlessly.

On Side A “Onda”, you will listen to a light contemplative sailing soundtrack whilst Side B “Costa” depicts what would be our dream setting for a night at a resort park discotheque."

After their first big “Things I Didn’t Mean” EP on Dirt Crew back in 2013 the Cali boys Urulu & Steve Huerta teamed up again for another release full of bliss Deep House cuts. Both relocated to Berlin last year and have since then been extremely busy with their solo output on labels like “Let’s Play House”, “Needwant”, “Shabby Doll” and Urulu’s own imprint “Amadeus”.

Here they are giving us a clean cut of both their styles, combined it is truly an all original blend of deep and raw House music. The A side features two club bangers while the
B side explores the deeper side of things with more laid back vibes and dubbed out jazzy elements. One of our personal favourites is the irresistible D.E.G.L. that best describes
the “Urulu & Huerta” Sound. All in all the guys managed to deliver a well rounded package with all elements a good EP needs.

We are quite sure this new release will be a great follow up to their successful first EP that Became a Dirt Crew Classic and one of our best selling tracks ever.
