For this song I was trying to write something with some 70’s sounding wah-wah guitar and originally wanted some dance/disco feel to the track. I ended up adding a brass section when I needed a ‘hook’ for the song. This reminded me a quite a bit of those Herb Alpert records from the 60’s which I hope explains the title. The result ended up a lot less disco but I hope makes for an interesting listen perhaps!

Instrumental of two classic jazz songs, Satin Doll and A Foggy Day.
 
Satin Doll was written and recorded by pianist and orchestra leader Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn with lyrics by Johnny Mercer in 1953. It’s been recorded since then by Ella Fitzgerald, Carmen McRae, Billy Eckstine, Nancy Wilson, Billy Strayhorn and many others.

A Foggy Day was written by George and Ira Gershwin for the 1937 movie “A Damsel in Distress.” Dozens of artists have recorded it then, including Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, Tony Bennett and Sarah Vaughan.
