LRS SS23 Official Soundtrack by me - The Battle between Countercultures and traditions 
 
The inspiration for the Spring 2023 collection comes from the battle between countercultures and traditions. LRS is seeking to capture a modernized poetic approach to subculture expressions against the reality of our dark contemporary world. Focusing the label’s sharp tailoring sensibility and infusing it with the energy of such underground scenes like Emo, Punk and Indie sleaze. By Injecting symbols of tradition from the strains of religion, the Renaissance era and folklore, the label desires to convey a modern romantic idea of youth culture.  While Raul’s ideas of deconstruction and disproportions keep pushing the brands identity forward. The brand aims to challenge the way you see the past and future with a play on silhouettes. The age-old battle between old vs. new has never been so tempting. 

When I was approached by Raul to do the sound for his SS23 collection, I immediately jumped on this project. Not only was I excited, I had been dreaming about this moment since my Tumblr days. Fashion has been one of the main avenues of my music exploration. It was through fashion shows that I discovered many musicians and the idea of creating an environment that encompasses brand DNA and current identity. For this soundtrack, I really wanted to express the counterculture through the dichotomy between classical music and punk with a modern electronic sound. It was such a nice journey to dive into my middle school emo days and bring that part of me back to life. Let’s just say that if you listen to my current mixes, you are going to be shocked with what I brought together this time. The 30 min soundtrack will take you on a little journey through renaissance period music, @rip_swirl , @massiveattackofficial , @pitchshifter.uk , @primer.55 @egotot.666 and @enigmaofficialband to name a few. It gave very much Romeo + Juliet 1996 film. I urge everyone to go see the collection on @voguerunway and take a listen. Thank you Raul for trusting me with this project 🥹 🫶🏽

Kaili is an underground legend, whose versatile and adventurous approach to blending genre and taste keeps the mightiest dancers and partiers on their hands, toes, and feet. Previously, she was based in LA, playing all the iconic parties from Mustache to Rail Up, and now she’s taking NYC by storm. Though she’s a coast-to-coast underground staple, her sound is global. She effortlessly combines sounds from all over the world such as kuduro, drill, batida, UKG, baile funk, and footwork. Kaili has opened for international heavy hitters such as DJ Lag, Mexican Jihad, Tayhana, Coucou Chloe, and so much more. 

Kaili is a multi-faceted artist with a whole body of work for us to discover. When she’s not DJing, she works in the visual and 3D space making beautiful artwork and making the internet more glam. If you can’t keep up with all the cool things she’s doing IRL, thankfully you can catch her online radio show “BODYWORK” on NTS where she “brings you the practice of Bodywork, an hour-long cleansing ritual of club music traversing time and locality, applying pressure where it's needed in order to release…” anytime you want. Luckily for us, Kaili has whipped up an amazing mix that spans her sound, whether that’s at the club or at home. Listen to the mix as you read our interview with her in the link in bio.

“This mix was a joy to make! My intention was to create something that could soundtrack anything from a relaxed midday groove, to a commute, to an evening kickback. It combines my love for classic R&B and fun vocal edits with what I would consider more of what I'm listening to—rap, drill, a sprinkling of club and amapiano, and even a little ambient. It's definitely something that you can move to, and also has some twists and turns to keep it interesting.“
