The icing on the cake. As Aly & Fila expand their record label with ‘Future Sound of Egypt Excelsior’, finish up yet another FSOE world tour, and drop smash record after smash record, it’s hard to imagine what in the world could be left for the pair. Just shy of 1 million Facebook followers as of this writing, Aly & Fila are about as elite as it gets.

A chance to break free. Their third studio album, ‘The Other Shore’ is the magnum opus of artists who have already reached the other side of their craft. No longer out to prove anything, Aly & Fila are free to create exactly the kind of album that they want. The most striking feature of this record is the sheer musicality of every track. Fusing instrumentation from different cultures, genres, and even eras, they’ve blended it all in a style that no one on earth could emulate.

Powerful diversity. From Aruna’s jazzy and minimal title track to ‘In My Mind’ (featuring Karim Youssef & May Hassan), the scope of this record is unimaginable. Songs like ‘Altitude Compensation’ will pull at your heart like a long-lost lover, while ‘Never Let Me Go’ (featuring Seri) is an intimate, remarkable tune made possible by inspired and magical vocals. Downtempo ‘Shine’ (with Roxanne Emery) is perfect for kicking back in peace and harmony. 

“Perfection is achieved when there’s nothing left to take away.” Very few producers would have the confidence to strip their tracks down to the bare essentials, leaving nothing left to hide. To pull this off, what’s left has to be almost inhumanly perfect - breath for breath, note for note. You couldn’t take away a single sound or a song from this record and have it be the same, and as impossible as it may seem, it’s hard to imagine Aly & Fila going anywhere but up from here.

when traveling through oregon last year i stumbled across this mystic place. the entire landscape was covered in lava. odly enough, quite a few trees had found their way to grow on this rocky ground.  i stopped for quite a while, simply watching this breathtaking landscape, overwhelmed once again by the beauty of nature. 11 artists created a soundworld around this picture of that place. the goal was to capture the feeling evoked by this special landscape. just listen to the result and see for yourself. very deep dub techno - enjoy the tracks. everything is 100 % handcrafted and selfmade.

That time of the year....AfrikaBurn.....and yes it was another one on fire again. I felt ALIVE this AfrikaBurn. And the set you find here is the set I played on Thursday afternoon, sunset at Camp Now. Playing on the playa, dancing people around me, beautifully dressed up and feeling the freedom and their own soul and emotions. It was another privilege to play for all of these people again. My last trip was a tour which brought me to several places all over the world. Playing in Davos, Switzerland. From there flying to an amazing new and fresh festival in Chiang Mai, Thailand and then to these magical group of Islands called Maldives. Playing on one of these islands for a wonderful, exciting group of people was such a special moment. Playing a sunrise set and then finding out at a certain moment, while people kept on dancing and dancing, that the clock hit 10am.....completely lost in time that's how it felt and that's where the inspiration came for this new podcast. Part of this podcast I already played last weekend in New York (Output) and San Francisco (Audio) during my Deep & Sexy Live event with my incredible Live Band.
