The events of 2020-21 have exposed the fragility of our global systems and the flawed foundations on which modern societies and economies are built. ‘Count the Dead’ brings attention to complex issues concerning the value of human life. The song draws attention to the social and economic injustices that plague society, and the violent health inequalities that have been further exacerbated by the global pandemic, which has now claimed more than 4 million lives worldwide.    

Continuing the themes addressed in ‘Love in the Time of Pestilence’, ‘Count the Dead’ is the second instalment of songs addressing the ongoing pandemic and global crisis. At a time when the world appears to be more divided than ever before, discourse has never been more important, and urgent.

Ce titre, avec ‘J’VEUX SURTOUT PAS’  et ‘INFIDÈLE’  fait partie de la trilogie ‘des amours tumultueux’ du micro-album PHONOGRAPHE de MCDC. Un des amoureux, à répétition,  s’est mal occupé de l’autre et  se retrouve,  depuis un an, séparé et seul à pleurer sur son sort dans le Pub des regrets,  où, en  couple, ils aimaient bien aller siroter un verre.

This title, with 'JE VEUX SURTOUT PAS' and 'INFIDÈLE', is part of the 'tumultuous love' trilogy from the EP PHONOGRAPHE by MCDC. One of the lovers, repeatedly, took poor care of the other and has been left alone, separated for a year, to cry over his fate in the Pub of Regrets, where, as a couple, they liked to go and sip a drink.

Depuis la pandémie mondiale, plusieurs pays ont décidé de restreindre les sorties des citoyens pour les protéger du virus. Bonne idée ou mauvaise idée, là n’est pas le propos de la chanson. Le titre parle plutôt de ceux qui avaient déjà, ou qui ont maintenant de la difficulté à sortir de leur maison depuis cet évènement. Cela se nomme  le SYNDROME DE LA CABANE. Dans la chanson, une amie essaie de venir en aide à la personne qui a peur de sortir mais ne sait pas si ça va fonctionner.


Since the global pandemic, several countries have decided to restrict the exit of citizens to protect them from the virus. Good idea or bad idea, that’s not the point of the song. The title talks rather about those who had already, or who are now having difficulty leaving their house since this event. It is called the CABIN SYNDROME. In the song, a friend tries to help the person who is afraid of going out but doesn’t know if it will work.
