What an incredible song. And I loved the guitar.

This song really made me reflect on my own roots and the people and places that have shaped me. It asks a simple question—where are you from?—but sparks a deep journey inward and reminds me that identity is built from many experiences.

It’s conference season.

A stretch of weeks where overcaffeinated academics
drag their minds across time zones
to talk about things they’ve written—
and rewritten sixteen times—
but still haven’t quite said out loud.

They’re excited to present their latest findings.
Terrified of the questions they haven’t prepared for.
The ones that never come—but always might.

They’re scattered, underslept, overstimulated—
and somehow, inspired.

But through it all, one question keeps following them.
Quietly. Persistently.

Not always with malice.
Not always with meaning.
But always asked.
