Swindon born and bred DJ and Producer Chaney (aka Theo Altieri) is making his way back to Toolroom with his first release on the label this year: ‘Back To Me’ featuring the brilliantly talented vocalist Laura Davie. Landing on the label at the beginning of the summer season, Chaney’s timing is perfect with this one. Having previously released tracks on Stress, Loaded & Skint Records to name a few, ‘Back To Me’ is Chaney’s latest single on Toolroom since 2020’s ‘Good For Me’ feat. Morixo.
 
Chaney really delivers the goods on ‘Back To Me’, an uplifting piano house banger full of everything you’d expect from a Chaney release but with so much more. Feel good piano chords are backed by a pumping bass line, layered with sharp strings sprinkled with a touch of disco magic that really brings the record to life. The soft vocal cuts are the hook line and sinker with this track, chopped, reversed and mangled into a catchy melody that pops throughout the record. Along with the voice of Laura Davie who has featured on previous Toolroom releases such as Illyus & Barrientos ‘Disco Hearts’ and Mark Knights ‘If It’s Love’ with The Melody Men. Laura’s powerful vocals lift the track to a higher state of being, ascending you and the music to a full-on euphoric moment. Together, Chaney & Laura Davie have a sure-fire summer hit on their hands, and we can’t wait for you to hear it.

Following a string of vocal house on the label, Ferreck Dawn returns to Defected for his latest slice of house heat ‘Back Tomorrow’, this time teaming up with renowned dance vocalist Jem Cooke. Already a triumph with the Defected community, soundtracking memorable moments throughout summer ’21 at its lauded Croatia festival and other major events, Ferreck’s signature piano stabs and chunky grooving beat lay the foundation for Jem’s memorable vocal hook on this exceptional cut. A collaboration that has been a long time coming, ‘Back Tomorrow’ has all the indicators of becoming a Defected anthem for many years to come.

My good homie and one of the few artists I love to collaborate with, Danny Goliger, and I were jamming last year with no plans, just excited to finally be able to get back in the stu together. I showed Danny “What A Life” as I was inspired by experiencing my first Ibiza sunset with John. I’ve been really into making bootlegs recently as you can tell and so when I showed Danny the track, he really felt it had a super gorgeous pop vocal. Next thing you know, we were on the fast track to turning the original into a cheeky speed garage banger. We wanted to share this track as a free download as it’s been ripping up the dance floor during our sets! Which btw - Dj’s, this track vibes at 126 bpm too (it’s at 136) - that’s what I think is beautiful about the genre speed garage, one of the best, perhaps more tech-house flips into sped up garage 🤭 anyway☔️✨
