The latest addition to Barong Family is a 17-year-old Chinese DJ, producer, singer and songwriter called Chace. The level of artistic maturity on his debut Destination EP is extraordinary, from Chace’s melancholic, muted vocals to the overall depth and liveliness of his arrangements and production. There’s just no doubt about the range of his talents and we feel extremely lucky to have found him. His first release is the fruit of an intense two months of studio sessions, inspired by Chace’s musical roots and surroundings. All four songs are deep-house tracks with very strong songwriting that should find their way well beyond the dancefloor. ‘Stranger’ is a collaboration with Barong Family heads Yellow Claw, once again showcasing Chace’s excellent string arrangements and featuring a bumpy UK garage touch.
