The ARP synthesiser was invented by
Alan Robert Pearlman, a NASA engineer, in 1969.

The ARP 2500 was used in the
5 tones sequence of the film
Close Encounters of the Third Kind,
played by Phil Dodds, 
Chief of Engineering, at ARP. 

The ARP 2600 was used in 
Star Wars to create the voice of  R2D2.
