Lied To Me

Prior to making "Overtime", this was one of the first songs I made for Monique. The first song I ever made for Monique was called "May 5th" where I sang the words "All I want is Mo Love, all I need is one love, Mo Love." This time I decided to add a little flavor and to use my favorite J. Cole song "Runaway" as inspiration on the hook. Along side of the hook being inspired the verse may sound familiar to some people if they noticed I used the same verse in a "Just Friends" Remix that was inspired by "Semper Christ"

MONIQUE.

My brother "Benny" aka "Young Bull" always gave me great words to live by, but this story spoke louder than any situation I've heard. I've know him for years and he was the reason I took music serious so I know I had to dedicate a song to him and tell the truth, and how I saw the situation it shifted my way of seeing relationships.

After losing someone who was/is the most influential person in my life I had to take some time to reevaluate myself and see what was the problem within "us"? We were apart for about 6 months, and in this time I realized that I was the problem. So many times in the male community we are taught to be strong even when we are wrong, I wrote this song as a formal apology. My insecurities clouded my judgement and later on resulted in me almost losing the person I loved. I sincerely say that I am sorry, and I have changed.

Artisan is no stranger to music. Growing up in the church, in Charlotte NC, he was apart of the children's choir all the way into the Young Adult fellowship choir. In the 5th grade, he became a hip hop enthusiast., letting the words of Drake lead him into a new found love for music. His junior year in High school is when he began to start writing and making his own music, calling himself AYE Artisan. He then, with the help of his close friends Benny and Abe soon turned his bedroom into a studio calling it the "Pink Room", leaving it to be a place of inspiration, and freedom through artistry.
After relocating to New York after his 18th birthday in October, that following Winter of January 2017 was when he took his music to the next level. That following year (2018) he discovered who he was through late night sessions in Brooklyn, Queens and Whitestone, birthing what would be soon known as the sound of AYE Artisan
