A cosmic event so minuscule and rapid that it is unsure as to whether it even occurred at all. This was the precursor to the formation of String Theory. A group and its self titled album comprised of Epidemic's Hex One and Swedish beat maker Boom Bappin' Zombie Darney. Only outside the realms of a structured paradigm can such a happening even begin to be analyzed. So too only under these conditions can it be formed. With concepts ranging from the abstract to the concrete, this anomaly in space time, this rift in the conscious fabric of reality, this naked singularity attempts to answer the basic human question: who are we really? The ambiguity of the universe's many laws is what drives this question, as every soul on this plane is searching for their own personal theory of everything. We ride it's intergalactic currents, weaving between supposed realities and lucid dreams, only to reminisce on how beautiful it all used to be. A graceful marriage between multilayered resonance and the seemingly forgotten art of rap. The inception of this body of work blurs the notion of identifying it as an album, as it is
simply a juncture made possible by infinitely specific circumstances, without which, String Theory would never have existed at all.

If we are a simulation, then in the ways that matter to us... we are real enough.

For me J Dilla is the ultimate hip-hop producer and my biggest inspiration in that genre. His use of the sampler, how he recorded beats is to me proof of how a human can bring humanity to a drum machine. 

He broke rules, took beats off beat, slowed down beats to speed them up again. He played fresh games with texture and tone. He recast the sample as a malleable component, rather than the monochromatic backbone it had seemed to be. 

As a jazz lover, J Dilla was a living encyclopedia of jazz. As a musician, he was always ready to pick up a guitar or a bass, or saddle up behind the drum kit, or hammer out chords on the keyboard. This has inspired me to take up the piano, learn how to groove with it and then use that knowledge to create unique and personal electronic compositions. This is my first edit ever! and a huge homage to Dilla. Villa plays Dilla. 

You'll hear a bunch of offbeats--Dilla went from 97 bpm to 120 in one track. Many beatmakers use a method known as quantizing, which lets you perfectly subdivide electric drum-machine sounds into positions within a measure. From there, the pattern can repeat indefinitely as a loop. Dilla preferred to play beats on a drum machine by hand in real time. That allowed him to color his creations with a signature rhythmic sway: languorous, leaned back, landing just behind the beat. In some ways, it was a new paradigm for the swing rhythm that had been born in West Africa and grew up with jazz. 

Mistakes are REAL.  Also I'm allowing for download, because projects are meant to be shared.
