When i first heard about Eprom from Gaslamp Killer I totally freaked out, but when I heard his album Halflife I knew I had to work with him somehow.  So I called him up and invited him down to LA.  This was a really natural collaboration. He came down to Venice and we sat in the studio for 3 days working on these tunes.  I don’t fan boy about very many producers but Eprom is one of the greatest in my humble opinion and he didn’t disappoint. We had all the analog stuff routing back and forth, then sampling it, resampling it, reworking it — the super cool mind of a maniac up in here.

Moon Juice was made strictly with 808 sounds, even the angelic arp style pads are made from modified 808 kick drums. Crawled Eagle is that more nasty Eprom vibe reminiscent of Center of the Sun from Halflife.  I added all my bits throughout as well.  Listeners beware this ain’t house music if that’s what you are expecting!

EPROM & Barclay Crenshaw "Crawled Eagle"

The second single from Barclay Crenshaw's self titled album is violently haunting and beautiful - inspired by another unexplained diagram from the past. It's hard to decipher the image exactly but blood vessel maps of the human form are drawn with symbols and strands resembling genetic code, like an ancient guide studying our species. Additional imagery suggests an extraterrestrial influence and leaves us with more unanswered questions about the project.

The Gene Sequence

Proven to work crowds into rabid excitement, “Don” is the frenzied single from German duo Schlachthofbronx. Beginning with a single echoed synth note and unassumingly building steam for two minutes, the track takes an unexpected turn into a fever pitch.

Barclay Crenshaw adds his own interpretation, foregoing the intense build up and kicking straight into a manic Chicago footwork rendition of the original. Channeling a love affair with classic '90s hip-hop, an affinity for otherworldly themes and an ear for raw funk, Barclay Crenshaw uses his given birth name to bare his soul and deliver a slowed-down, emotive collection of collaborations and instrumentals. This self-titled debut album is a left-field departure from his better-known alias, Claude VonStroke, but the quality is undeniably the same. The themes of ancient alien abductions and exploration of time and space are discovered and brought to life over ten tracks that sound like a mixture of gold rope chains and new age enlightenment. Modern organic beats mixed with gorgeous melodic moments and underlying grittiness create an experience that is eclectic, expressive and expansive. Coded art furthers the sense of mystery and the unknown, harking back to the past while gazing into the future.
