I had a chance to really listen to AZephyr and even spoke with him after his cypher, and honestly, what struck me most was how genuinely he’s trying to make music that’s conceptual, even when it maybe shouldn’t be or goes over someones head. That kind of fearless experimentation is rare, and it’s exactly what makes his work compelling to me.

Take his track Imitation Game, for example. On the surface, it’s got this braggadocious vibe, tossing triple entendres, and I thought it was a great debut but then Knox points out "you got the whole fuckin' song wrong, look at the title and the lyrics it's being ironic". So I asked him where he gives out bars such as "own a house in Tennessee” which made me laugh, it sound compelety stupid if you read it. But that’s the point. He’s playing with the idea of flashy bars that rhythmically hit hard, even if the content is ridiculous. It’s an ironic spin on the kind of over-the-top "intellectual bragadocious" rap that sometimes gets taken too seriously. That balance between concept and playfulness shows real creative confidence.

Beyond that, his music covers a broad emotional spectrum. In Roses From the Fence Line, he calls out the fake, AI-produced personas dominating modern rap, while In Vain digs into the frustration and futility behind chasing money and success "money was never the means for me, just the means for me to be seen". Then there’s Beneath the Red Rose, where he gets raw about the grind of the 9-to-5 life and the toll it takes on the soul.

Sure, his flow isn’t always polished to perfection, and some lines get a bit crowded. But that’s secondary to the real value in his work: the ideas, the honesty, and the willingness to build entire worlds through his lyrics. He’s clearly making something with depth and originality, qualities that are hard to come by. 

That’s why, even with some rough edges , an 8.5 out of 10 feels right. It’s not just about flawless delivery; it’s about vision, intent, and the courage to experiment. AZephyr is an artist who’s not just making music, he’s making statements. And if he keeps pushing like this, he’s one to watch.
