This is a recording of question time at Politics in the Pub, Newcastle NSW Australia on April 18 2011. The meeting was organised by Politics in the Pub in conjunction with the Newcastle University Students Association environment collective (NUSA enviro). 

The discussion is hosted by John Sutton from politics in the pub and features guests John Thomson (Lock the gate alliance), Dayne Pratzky (Western downs alliance), Warwick Jordan (Wilderness society), Ross Dunn (Director- CSG; Australian Petroleum production and Exploration association); Zane Alcorn (Beyond zero emissions); Representatives of AGL (apologies have lost names of the two representatives that were present). Various questions are taken from the audience. 

The discussion is focused on issues around coal seam gas drilling/ fracking; pollution to water tables that this can cause; whether gas is needed as a 'transition fuel' between coal and renewables; community opposition and organising against CSG projects.
