About Me

“Mother Ocean” is a song about the attack on the oceans that we are unwisely, but knowingly perpetrating and our inaction’s dire threat to all life. We are recording this song, and others, for our new album. Our fabulous percussionist, Ernie Crews, is playing his waterphone (Google it and hear its wonderful sounds) on the intro and outro. This is a picture of Ernie playing it during the recording session. The first line of the song, “Oh Mother Ocean, Blood of Our Earth, What’s Happened to You, Did We Break Your Trust?”, tells you about the song written in the style of an up-tempo English folk song. 
Because of climate change, our oceans are warming at a rate far faster than ever predicted causing massive damage to its ecosystems. Carbon dioxide causes acidity to rise killing the coral reefs all over the globe, the “rainforests of the sea”. Overfishing is overwhelming fish species ability to replenish. Plastic waste is accumulating at rate, 13 million tons a year, such that soon there will be a pound of plastic waste for every three pounds of fish in the ocean. This plastic kills a million seabirds and hundreds of thousands sea turtles a year and, because sea life eats plastic thinking its food, WE are eating plastic at an alarming rate. The last line of the song is “We’ll Fight to the Bitter End, While the Boomers Hide, Defend Mother Ocean, It’s Our Only Way to Survive”. We need to save our oceans.
