Get to know! Following a series of remixes and a recent summer feel-good bomb, Azpect delivers her landmark debut EP on Formation Records. 
Hailing from Vancouver, Azpect – real name Chiffon Leyden – has been a card-carrying drum & bass junglist since 2010 and has diligently trekked across the epic, sprawling Canadian terrain to any D&B show she possibly could. Linking up with Formation Records founder DJ SS at a World Of Drum & Bass show in 2018, the jungle pioneer has been mentoring and guiding her to this exciting debut EP point.
Like all the best music, the whole EP is deeply personal as Azpect brings in her nearest and dearest and lays out her inspirations and ideas in a full technicolour D&B mission statement. ‘Reflections’ is a warm, purring dubwise number that features her younger brother Radio Soap on guitar, something Chiffon’s always wanted to do since she first started studying production in 2012. 
A slew of high voltage jungle slammers follows: ‘Back It Up’ is pure rolling thunder. The peaktime danger jam of the EP, think Prototypes or Document One, there’s a powerful sense of controlled, weighty momentum running throughout. ‘Free Your Mind’ flips the vibe for a deep, contemplative experience as Azpect links with Lady MC and SS himself for a lesson in finding the positive. Finally ‘The Next Step’ closes the EP with the thoughtful bars of Formation resident MC G1 and some of Azpect’s finest star-gazing sonic textures. Hopeful, deep and full of drive, it’s the perfect way to leave us all waiting for her next step… 
‘Reflections’ is out November 12 on Formation Records, jungle drum & bass music’s longest-standing labels. It follows the smouldering, soulful ‘Feeling Blessed’, the old school bone-rattling ‘The Fight’ on Formation Records’ Back To Jungle Vol 2 album and a remix of Bachelors Of Science. Plenty more is set to come as this promising young Canadian artist is just getting started. You heard her here first.

Formation head honcho and our very own Azpect bring us the feel good track ‘Feeling Blessed’ with a host of special mixes to accompany. Could this be the perfect drum and bass sound track to a summer of freedom?

From the start we know ‘Feeling Blessed’ is gunna have us getting our groove on. With uplifting lyrics that set the tone for the track accompanied by rhythmic guitar chords, listeners know that there is sumptuous drop incoming. When the drop does come we’re surrounded by fast drum pattern that continues the positive vibes of the track. Deep bass reminds us of who made this track however. As we continue the vocal bars layed down give an extra lift the track.

With DJ SS throwing down his own remix of the track, he left his mark on this positive vibes track. Taking it to a darker level, but keeping the essential elements a part of the track, he’s created the perfect symphony of light and dark.

Formation Records very own Azpect is back with her brand new ‘Syndicate EP. Brace yourself as this Canadian-based producer unleashes more heat as she continues to level up her sound on each release, while paying homage to her indigenous roots.

The titled track ‘Syndicate’ is a gun-finger worthy rave weapon. The vibrating bass synth is the focal point mutating its way through the duration alongside snappy drums, incomprehensible vocal samples, and sullen atmospheres.

‘Is it True’ brings the jungle flavours and spicy basslines. The drop on this track comprised of drums brimming with groove and notes that will be ringing in listeners ears. When the bass hits, it’s pure party vibes.

Azpect switches it up with ‘Lotus’ while introducing indigenous roots. The track’s forward chugging back-bone is delicately layered with mesmerizing flutes and a stimulating groove filled with pockets of modulated, well-produced bass and an ever-present drum pattern.

The final track ‘Till the End’ has the ominous introduction comprised of boundless stretches of atmosphere has you anticipating what is to come.
