Azure Fires- Prelude

In the beginning,
There was nothing but the infinite absence. 
Pure darkness.
As deep as any hue they could even dream of painting.
If a single tree fell in a forest,
A forest who’s great expanse stretched far beyond the horizon, 
Who was the horizon itself,
Would anyone hear it?
Would anyone hear the silence of the abyss?
They would never know of this time, this time of quiet and dark.
And maybe they were better off for it, these people of the sky.
Of color, of light, of peace.
These concepts, of harmony and unity, had never before been dreamt of,
Until the silence ended.
On this glorious beginning, this ending of the silence, that single fallen tree caught flame.
Its light flickered into the depths, casting its glow across the forest of nothing.
It breathed life into it, awakening the hope that had lain dormant for so long.
And as their world began to come to life, the people of the sky awoke, 
Although they had never really been asleep.
Their stunning hues swept across the clouds, 
Blossoming, ethereal whirls painted across the dawn.
As they painted this new world, they found themselves.
They discovered what it meant to be the people of the sky.
