I've been hearing about Anita Baker since the 1982 or so. One of her band members from her first group "Chapter 8" lived directly across the street from my best friend. They had a song called called "I Just Want to Be Your Girl" that my favorite DJ Mojo would play every now and then. I hadn't heard that much else from them, as a matter of fact I later heard they broke up like so many groups do. Then right in the middle of the 80's Anita started to reemerge. Her sound was more than just R&B to me, she always had a Jazzy tone to her voice. When her second solo album "Rapture" came out, it was official our very own Ms. Baker had "Gone Global." 

I was digging recently for some underground DJ Edits as I often do, and it occurred to me that there wasn't lots of Anita mixes out there. So I put this one together strictly for myself at first and then I realized her 60th Birthday (Jan. 26) was soon approaching so I decided to share...

Wow, what more can be said about legendary soul crooner Teddy Pendergrass aka "Teddy P?" Teddy's incredible voice was so strong and smooth at the same time that he nearly owned the R&B charts in the mid to late seventies. I remember being a youngster growing up in Detroit and hearing his incredible songs all over the radio both day and night. "Come Go With Me" (1979)written by the incomparable song writing and production duo "Gamble & Huff" is probably my favorite Teddy tune. I heard the song the other day in my car and a musical "Light Bulb" lit up in my head. I wanted to hear this masterpiece on The Dance Floor! I hope you guys Enjoy It!!!

Man, when I was a teenager and really starting to appreciate music Kashif was one of my favorite producers. I remember listening to Howard Johnson's now classic "So Fine" wondering who made that smooth music? It turned out to be Kashif. I later found out that he produced some of my favorite songs of that time. Then in 1983 he released his first solo project and I was totally hooked. "Help Yourself to My Love" was from that debut album simply titled "Kashif" and was and is still my favorite song of his. I really hope you guys enjoy it...
