I’m thrilled to introduce my new single, "That's What Love Is (God Is Love)." This concept had been on my heart for quite some time.  Though the title of the song is "That's What Love Is," it is intended as more than just a melodic expression. It is an inspirational piece that addresses a deep and often overlooked truth: while many believe they understand love, few truly embody it. This song is uniquely arranged to address what love is and what love is not. This song seeks to re-center that understanding and bring listeners back to the source - God Himself.  I hope that this song will encourage reflection, inspire a return to the true essence of love, and serve as a guide for both recognizing and practicing love in everyday life.

Comprised of three songs about bells. (Silver Bells, Carol of the Bells, and I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day)  Bells are considered to be symbolic to a subtle still voice that speaks (rings) within the heart or to the spirit.  Bells can be announcements, an answer or a response to something, or an intuition to a circumstantial situation.  My inspiration to form this trilogy came from my love and desire to hear bells during the holidays.  This arrangement begins with a Gospel like feel, followed by the Rock ballad exclamations of preserving peace and goodwill, shadowed by the classic Ukranian folk song with a repeated four note motif, now an American favorite, the Carol of the Bells.  Stimulated by the lyrics of the songs, the beautiful melodic lines, the variety of styles and the characteristics of the bells throughout their narrative accounts are simply resounding in this medley.

The story of the First Noel  is a summarized version of the eastern star that guided the wise men to the baby Jesus.  When they saw the star, they recalled the prophecy of the coming Messiah and decided to follow the stars path to Bethlehem.  When they arrived, to see the baby Jesus in the manger, they offered gifts and worshiped Him. The concept of this arrangement is to have an all-male voiced ensemble with a parade of musical instruments played by hand.  Befittingly, for the fact that there were only men mentioned in this story, I couldn’t help but to hear male vocals from afar with heroic, soldier-like chants, in celebration.  I was honored to perform this arrangement with Adrien Re and guest percussionist, Jona Masiya.  Jona was kind enough to translate and teach us a phrase in an African tongue from Zimbawe, called Shona.  The phrase used: “Noel, Born is the King of Israel,” is translated and used as a chant- Azvar wa mambo we Israel.  At last, the African phrase and percussion- instruments create the perfect images for the long journey to the Bethlehem eastern star.

The First Noel

made famous by Bing Crosby. Appropriately, this song was written at the most tragic time of our American history, (World War II) in order to honor our soldiers overseas.   Likewise, not everyone gets the opportunity to be home with family and friends during the holiday season.  This composition is quite special because it speaks of one of the greatest desires of the heart.  Stylistically, arranged and produced by Adrien Re, with a Samba flare, I’ve decided to take a risk and present this version in Spanish.  (1.) Because of the style of this music, lyrically, I felt that it was appropriate to connect to the musical style (Spanish).  The Samba style contributes to the suave, mellow and wistfulness of the original, just as the original lyrics have indicated.  (2.)  The melody is dreamy and hopeful, painting imaginative pictures to see snow, to have presents, to be with loved ones, and of course, the tradition of the mistletoe!  All of the best reasons to be home for Christmas.  Be sure to have your favorite beverage while listening to this one!

The procession and recession of the three Kings men who came afar.  The concept of this arrangement is to have an all-male voiced ensemble with a parade of musical instruments played by hand.
