I can vividly remember riding the Southern Shore highway in Newfoundland on the bench seat of my uncle’s Buick - the feel of the fabric, the colour, and those sounds from the stereo. There was a cassette with a red cover and the black silhouette of a man on it: Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs by Marty Robbins. That record stuck with me, and it is what brought "The Many Deaths of Rose Murphy" to life…and death, I suppose. There’s nothing quite like a good murder ballad, and I needed to write one of my own. 

This one was recorded live in one take, with only the pedal steel added afterwards - sung around a couple of mics, just like it would have been done years ago. So sit back, let your mind wander to 1909, and enjoy one of "The Many Deaths of Rose Murphy".
