This song is, of course, based on Jesus' Great Commission. As the lyrics developed, I realized that the meaning of the song would be clearest if I wrote it in first person, from Jesus' perspective. That takes the usual burden of songwriting, and adds a Divine call to accuracy and clarity.

As with all my songs, I hope a better musician will eventually pick this song up and give the waiting world a more musically satisfying version.

I hope this states the Gospel of Our Lord Jesus Christ clearly and completely enough to be effective. If someone who can really sing and play this song wants to record it, thus giving us a better rendition, I can furnish score and parts.

THE ONLY ONE

I wrote this as a soprano solo with piano accompaniment. I had in mind a recital-hall, arm-on-the-piano song, with lyrics that speak of God's ongoing plea for the sinner to come to Him.

LET US REASON TOGETHER

This is not the Parable of the Prodigal Son. It's the story of a modern-day Christian who receives a message from God that he is living too far from home.

SONG OF THE PRODIGAL

This is a Christmas song, based on a Francis Schaeffer sermon of the same title (US Copyright permission obtained). It's a Bethlehem shepherd's recollection of Christmas, and of the impact of that night.

WHAT DIFFERENCE HAS LOOKING MADE?

"Where Do I Go from Here?" is a narrow-range Christian song. I sang the demo as a tenor, but it can easily be transposed for other voices. It's about a Christian who, as he finishes praying, realizes that God is calling him to go out and do his part in answering other Christians' prayers.

WHERE DO I GO FROM HERE?

This song was inspired by a morning walk in a very dreary rainstorm. I walk a mile most mornings, unless there's lightning. The fruit of the Holy Spirit in every Believer is, among other manifestations, joy; and that joy can overcome much adversity, including a little inclement weather.

MISERABLE DAY

Evangelical churches give an invitation at the end of a service, so those who have been moved by God to give their lives to Him can respond publicly. What happens when someone who has been called by God misses the formal invitation?

By the way, this is a slightly clearer demo recording of the song I loaded two days ago.

THE INVITATION

This song, as recorded, is intended as a congregational worship song or an invitation. While it can be sung at a faster tempo, and more accompaniment might enrich the listening experience, I chose to record it with only voice (enhanced, because the voice is mine) and acoustic guitar.

LET US RETURN TO THE LORD

This song is based on Matthew 25: 1-13 and Isaiah 40: 31. As God's People, Christians must be ready when He calls for someone to send for service. We must also continue to rely on Him to meet our needs and empower us to do what He has sent us to do.

As with all the songs at this location, this is a song demo. I'm sharing the song with anyone who wants to hear it, but I'm also sending it to publishers. The playing and singing are a demonstration of how the song itself sounds, not a polished recording by a professional singer. I'm a long-time Christian, now writing Christian songs in hope of starting a new career. These are song demo recordings. I sang them, and I'm not trying to tell anyone I'm a singer. I'm hoping some Christian singer, established or aspiring, will take a song, make a deal, give the world a better version, and advance the Kingdom.
