| From the Middle East to Central America and Russia, a trio of artists blend their talents. Out of the darkness and into the light, Golan Zocher, Gux Jimenez and Mango build a stratified sonic masterpiece from “Only a Shadow”. Subtle organic layers amble through a forest of percussive saplings that sit beneath a towering beat and subterranean groove. Emerging in the dappled moonlit shadows, evocative motifs create an eerie atmosphere before a bassline force springs from the undergrowth and into the open, prowling beneath luscious melody.

Harnessing familiar energies from the darkness, Dowden hypnotises with a new poise and grace. “Only a Shadow” forms in the twilight as white noise crashes in pulsating waves. A mesmerising bassline hits the Toronto streets where it forges a path through pinpricks of melodic light and a seething, rolling rhythmic groove. A pioneering sonic architecture is forged from exquisite St Petersburg and Sao Paulo landscapes. Bassline and synth lines fire off each other in playful interaction and melodic beauty swirls in coruscating patterns of delay and intrigue. “Only a Shadow” is transformed into an iridescent array of sonic colour and uplifting brio by K Loveski & Gorkiz. |

'Agnosia Black continues a strong start to the year with a new single from label boss DJ Choopie and Golan Zocher. The former, based in Israel, lays claim to over two decades of production work and releases via long-standing imprints such as Bedrock and Yoshitoshi. Meanwhile, Colombian born, Israel based artist Golan Zocher has enjoyed similar success across his five-year career, landing releases via Nick Warren's The Soundgarden, Beatfreak and Clubsonica Records. Having begun the year with the well-received 'Fine Twist' single and a contribution to the Sol Selectas 'Global Entry 3' collection, Choopie and Golan continue to build on their creative synergy with a new single entitled 'Pinko', alongside a remix from Analog Jungs.'

D.J. MacIntyre's SLC-Music rounds out the month of July by welcoming Soulmade back to the label for his first artist EP. Based in Rosario, Nahuel V aka Soulmade has gained considerable momentum since adopting the Soulmade moniker in 2020. A well-received debut via Just Movement would lead to standout projects for Deepwibe Underground, Droid9, Strangers Beats, Univack and more, across the next three calendar years. Having made his SLC-Music debut last year with a contribution to the label's SIX: Stage-14 collection, Soulmade now makes a welcome return with 'Sub-Zero', alongside remixes from Fabri Lopez and Federico Flores. 

Lead track 'Scorpion' finds Soulmade operating at the peak of his creative powers, as he lets squelchy stabs and astral sonics descend over thunderous grooves and rolling percussion. Bringing even greater tension across the break, it's a wall of trippy effects and distorted harmonics which ultimately set the stage for a timely crescendo and epic finale. Meanwhile, title track 'Sub-Zero' goes for a deep and heady approach, as ravey chord stabs and panning effects steal air, while a chunky, swing-heavy groove keeps the psychedelic storyboard firmly on the dancefloor. 

Returning to the label for the lone interpretation of 'Scorpion' is Fabri Lopez who is best known for his releases via Hoomidaas, Mango Alley and Nick Warren's The Soundgarden. Always an excellent remixer, Fabri brings more of a groove-centric vibe to 'Scorpion'. With an emphasis on rhythm and melody, the Argentine crafts a version which sits in a deeper cosmic space and should fare well on the morning dancefloors out there. The release concludes with Federico Flores returning to the label for the lone interpretation of 'Sub-Zero'. Fresh off the February release of his 'Big Bang' EP, the La Rioja resident rounds out the release in style, with a smooth hypnotic rendition which makes great use of panoramic motifs and evolving effects to create an intoxicating dance floor moment.

Philip Kempnich remixes Aaryon and Ran Salman's 'Riptide', fundamentally shifting the patterns of sound consistently to leave you with an ever-pleased, tingly aural sensation. Cid Inc brings us his take on Nick Devon's 'The Poem' featuring Miroir, taking advantage of the earthy bass line through a complimentary arrangement. Oliver Schories faced Soul Button and BLANCAh's 'Rising Silence' turning this track into a twisted fantasy guaranteed to engulf you. MIDAS 104 approaches Animal Picnic's 'Gravity' with a bold confidence evident in the layout of this true anthem of ethereal techno, with a hint of funk! Lastly, but not leastly, Jonas Saalbach remixes Dahu and MPathy's 'Shattered' sticking to the darkness that is, while adding minimalistic elements to make this track simultaneously sink in and pop out in the most unpredictable and astounding ways.

Thank you to all our long-time fans that have loved us from the start, and to our new fans who we welcome with open arms into our family. "The Argentinean artist also lays claim to an impressive discography, highlighted by releases on Sudbeat Music and The Soundgarden. Now making his much anticipated Movement Recordings debut, Sebastian presents his ‘Machines’ EP.

Beginning the title cut Sebastian explores the deeper side of his studio repertoire. Free and flowing from the outset it’s well carved low end provides momentous swing while quirky hooks and timely vocal gates fill in the framework. Stripping down into the main break, the vocal narrative expands, opening up a spiritual reservoir before effortlessly shifting energy into a buoyant finale act.

The second selection ‘The End’ follows a similar sonic ethos with a leaning into pure progressive territory. Beginning with a warm, rolling groove the piece moves with discernible momentum as layers of drums and rugged rhythms converge for a hearty rhythmic core. Charming vocal gates and elegant atmospheres flow beautifully into an emotive centrepiece, as mounds of bass build a subtle tension, while ghostly pads and hopeful overlays fully saturate your pleasure centres. An impassioned creation from Sebastian.

The release concludes with ‘Budapest’ which presents a myriad of emotions across its nine minute journey. Beginning with a dark, ominous vibe the creation evolves through mounds of bass, waves of percussion and cross cultural motifs, eventually transitioning into an emotive state of mind. Poignant keys and wispy atmospherics elevate the mood during a second act bridge, before melting down into an otherworldly centrepiece led by a spiritual vocal, perfectly setting up a cosmic finale. It rounds out a superb Movement Recordings debut for Sebastian, setting up what should be an incredible year for the talented Argentine. Highly recommended."

From Tel Aviv on the Mediterranean coast Golan Zocher & Choopie cross cultural and music boundaries with “Sayonara”. A strong, hypnotic beat and urgent percussion capture the image of stark Bauhaus architecture while a pitched synth lead bends its will to the rhythm of the city. Pulsating energy caught in a confluence of aural ideas and arpeggiated order create a sonic superhighway. Argentinean flair once again makes its present felt from the huge sprawling Buenos Aries province. Chugging bass and groove aplenty provide new “Sayonara” imagery from Paul Deep, where flowing melodic lines offer contemplation, emotion and progression above club bedrock.

The ancient hills of the Sierra Chicas once more supply the backdrop for Analog Jungs to exalt “Sayonara”. New percussive character echoes across the sonic space as a bassline variant heralds new melodic freedom that rises out of immaculate rhythmic foundation; a powerful multi-faceted force in full effect. Out of the Baltic coast, the grand and beautiful architecture of St. Petersburg find their parallel as Ewan Rill & K Loveski say “Sayonara” one more time.
