I made the song on the night of my 16th birthday. It was a long,  bittersweet day for me. Being a young aspiring female in music, growing up is scary. No one knows what the future lies and the world can be so cruel especially during this time. Pressure and anxiety is real for me and my friends. Music is my outlet. It allows me to be free and happy. In short; "Sixteen Candles is about the bittersweet feeling of growing into adulthood.
