In the spirit of insisting on being in relation, remaining in touch and rehearsing connection Daniela Bershan is launching an archive-page for KANAL-Centre Pompidou around OCEAN (2020), a long durational, immersive performance sculpture around care and nourishment by Bershan in collaboration with Deborah Birch, Sara Leghissa and Sabrina Seifried. OCEAN was scheduled in December 20 and March 21 at Kanal and had to be cancelled (for obvious reasons). The questions around and motivations for OCEAN however, remain urgent. As OCEAN values daily rituals of reproductive labour as a possibility and rehearsal for micro-intimate, gradual (value) change, its choreographies and scores are threads of a larger web of action, relation, movement and analysis that will be linked together for Mapping OCEAN.
An experimental conversation between Daniela Bershan, Deborah Birch and Guy Gypens around OCEAN and some of its cyber-feminist, spirit-futch and eco-tentacles, allowing different modes of speaking and weaving together, will be part of a podcast airing on Monday, April 19th 2021 on Kanal Radio. A poster - map made by Bershan exclusively for Kanal - will be sent home to you if you sign up on the archive page - so gradually over time source-materials, inspirations and different conversations continue to resonate in your own time and space. Furthermore Mapping OCEAN will contain video, sound, image and text material - various translations from OCEAN and other related elements of Bershan's work, collaborations and research.
