Six years after delivering his debut album - a digital-only affair called TruSkool - Demuir has finally got round to recording a follow-up. The Toronto native's brand of house is chunky, groovy, deep and funky, taking cues not only from previous collaborators such as DJ Sneak, but also those of his contemporaries that make great use of dusty samples and killer drum programming. As a result, Visions manages to work both as a collection of club-focused cuts and an album you can listen to repeatedly from start to finish. Our picks of a pleasingly strong bunch include the fluid, disco-tinged, Hipnotic-sampling brilliance of 'Mind, Body & Soul Call Me', TUSH hook-up 'Skylar' (a superb slab of gospel-tinged soulful house) and the delicious Fred P collaboration 'Dream (Part II)'.

So the story behind the name is that when I ask people what they are into these days the response I get is always “well, its like house, but…..” and then they go on to describe loads of different sub genres in rolled into one, trying to make out that its something new when really they could just say house in the first place, so its kind of a playful joke on that whole genre situation these days, basically saying…. Its all just house music haha.

Fledgling London-based producer Malfie returns to Robsoul for a fourth dispatch, adding to his burgeoning discography with another package of funk-heavy, toughed-out, street-influenced House.
The Groove Story EP opens with the cantering, slow and low Odd Flip. A shuffling groove with cut’n’splice aesthetics at its heart, sporting soulful vocal runs and radiant vibes.
The title track comes with bottom-heavy kick drums and pulsing, rolling basslines in a decisively 90’s feel-good tone, while closer Feelin Good does exactly what it says on the tin. Boosting the mood with its finely tuned filters and French Touch bump.

Jackies is the legendary dance movement out of Barcelona that has played host to a starry lineup of DJs like Moodymann, DJ Sneak, Kerri Chandler, Louie Vega and Gerd Jason. This year the club night gave birth to Jackies Music, the first drop coming courtesy of house luminary Todd Terry & Barcelona local legend Piem. For their second heavyweight release Jackies Music proudly presents ‘Underdog’ by Parisian DJ and powerhouse producer, DJ W!LD.

 

DJ W!LD has gone from being a cult fave of the Parisian underground to a globally recognised talent, creating his own blend of house, minimal, techno, breaks and acid. He has released on REKIDS offshoot Cabin Fever, One Records, Robsoul, Ricardo Villalobos and Luciano's RAL series, 2020 Vision, Moan and Solid Grooves. His own imprint - The W Label - has featured work from Kerri Chandler, Chez Damier, Andres, and Honey Dijon.  DJ W!LD's versatility is in full force with this latest effort on Jackies that features a hypnotic spoken word vocal and jackin’ house groove. Masterfully blending the soulful sample  with deep dark beats, making it a solid choice for peak-time dancefloor chaos.
