I recently finished a large project which had been eating up all of my studio time. I'm happy to be back to a place where I can write and post new music. I started this track quite some time ago. I thought I'd dust it off and finish it to get things rolling again. I think I ended up putting more dust on it.

Inside out

This work consists of a series of five studies that explore different interactions between the piano and the Seaboard, an electronic instrument that allows for the execution of both traditional electronic elements and live electronic performance in a manner much more connected to the performer than other interfaces. Through these studies, I aim for the performer to become familiar with both the sound production capabilities of this instrument and the possibilities for sonic combination between the piano and the Seaboard.

Found in the notebooks of a country doctor, dated September 12, 1856, the dream of Auguste Flamand, a farm worker from northern France, is a surprising mixture of possession and visions of the future. After a strong blow to the head, Auguste Flamand reportedly lost consciousness for several minutes. When he came to, he said he had been dreaming.
"...I heard the death knell tolling for me, followed by a few chords of funeral music... A noisy crowd that frightened me, speaking a language I didn't understand, invited me to join them, but a high-pitched sound was protecting me, seeking to bring me back among the living... Finally, the crowd moved away and a woman appeared to me, strange, dressed like a man... She seemed to be coming towards me, her footsteps echoing loudly on the stone, but she didn't stop, continuing on her way to a strange horseless carriage (a car?) whose door she opened. I woke up when she slammed the door…”
