DTMF! returns to the airwaves after a short hiatus now broadcasting from our home set up in Hackney on www.dtmfro.com. We will do our shows from here for the foreseeable.

Don't Touch My Fro! - April 2024

Another instalment of DTMF! aired last Friday ;)

Just over 2 and half hours of sonic sunshine to get you through a rainy, reality check of a Tuesday. Afrobeat, Boogie and Funk flavours throughout the first hour with tunes from the likes of Cymande, Danny Ofiia, Nkono Teles and more. 

Second hour we were joined by Nigerian artist and all round funky dude @sweetestcape for a delectable mix that oozed a summer vibe. A boppy, 2-step around Disco, House and Bruk that was difficult not wiggle to. 

We also delved into our reflections from NYC and Berlin, talked ‘The Nod’, as well as discussing why there’s no reason why you can’t do it all as an artist. 

Thanks to those who tuned in. We will be back next month :)

Don't Touch My Fro! w/ Sweetestcape - May 2024

DTMF returns in June for another episode. Just over 2 hours of funk fuelled goodness for y’all to tuck into with various sprinklings of discussion on topics raging from the serious to the silly. 

We were blessed to be joined by our pal Kisa for a 40 minute mix of rare boogie, disco and early house . Was lovely to connect with such a sweet soul and talented selector who continues to impress every time we cross paths. Mix is straight fire and we’ve already knicked a couple of her tunes. So do tuck in!

Show features tunes from the likes of Mystic Merlin, Kano, Love Committee, Loose Ends, Caroline Crawford, Peter Panic and more.

We recommend this one. Is packing a lot of heat ;)

We were back live for another instalment of DTMF! on 20.09.24.

Plenty of tasty flavours throughout this one as we said farewell to the summer. We also discussed why it's never worth buying your own slushy and why we want to ban coke at our parties, as well as some exciting news about our first gig in Newcastle coming up this week.

DTMF! @ Cobalt Studios - Tolu (28.09.24)

I was toiling over this one for a while. It is my most thoughtful audio experiment to date, marking an effort to push my DJ practice beyond the dance floor - into a space of visceral connection and  cultural reflection, engaging in themes that have resonated in other areas of my creative output. 

This will be first part of what I hope will be an ongoing series. 

The mix explores the depths of the Black struggle and revolution, breathing sonic life into the complex medley of pain, joy, pride and confusion that often defines the Black diasporic experience. Weaving together abstract soundscapes, historical/fictional excerpts and soulful melodies spanning the old and the new. It leans into concepts of post-memory and inherited trauma, as well as afro-futurism and the deep sea, opening a channel for ancestral connection and inviting listeners to reflect, remember, and celebrate those who came before. 

Evocative and tangible, it’s a journey that is as educational as it is a call to dance, as beautiful as it is painful. 

I am blind from the tears but I still smile with pride. I remember those before me and I thank you.
