About the VA
Mahakali (Sanskrit: Mahākālī, Devanagari: महाकाली), is the much revered Hindu mother goddess of time, death and doomsday.
She is the divine Goddess of the Universe in her most fearful and powerful form. She is also the consort of Mahakala, the god of consciousness, the basis of reality and existence. Mahakali in Sanskrit is etymologically the feminized variant of Mahakala or Great Time (which is interpreted also as Death), an epithet of the god Shiva in Hinduism. Kali and all her forms are the different manifestations of Mahakali.
Mahakali's origin is contained in various Puranic and Tantric Hindu Scriptures (Shastra). In these She is variously portrayed as the Adi-Shakti-Goddess Durga, the Primeval Force of the Universe, identical with the Ultimate Reality or Brahman. She is also known as the (female) Prakriti or World as opposed to the (male) Purusha or Consciousness, or as one of three manifestations of Mahadevi Durga (The Great Goddess) that represent the three Gunas or attributes in Samkhya philosophy. In this interpretation Mahakali represents Tamas or the force of inertia. She is described as an abstract energy, the yoganidra of Vishnu. Brahma invokes Her and She emerges from Vishnu and He awakenes. She is the Goddess of time.

„Biegsamkeit und Schwäche bekunden die Frische des Seins --- deshalb kann nichts Siegen was verhärtet ist“

Es gibt wenige Künstler die mich im letzten Jahr extrem begeistert haben mit Ihrer Musik. Dazu gehört zweifelsohne der Berliner Künstler Baba Sikander mit seinem „kundalini schingeling“ Sound. Er versteht es wie kein anderer verschiedenste musikalische Einflüsse in einen unwiderstehlichen Soundteppich zu verweben und dabei doch diesen gewissen roten Faden mit einzuflechten. 

Auch als Produzent kreiert er zeitlose und sehr ausdrucksstarke Sounddokumente. Besonders hervorzuheben sind hier der Track „Draisine“, der auch das Intro meines Year-Mix 2016 von Adam Peter bildete. Und natürlich „Mantra“ der auf Lump Rec. released wurde --- ein Beispiel dafür das indische Mantras nicht kitschig daher kommen müssen --- Glück kann auch deep und melancholisch klingen.

Für sound(ge)cloud hat sich Baba Sikander mächtig ins Zeug gelegt --- möge „die Frische des Seins“ nur immer so sein. Danke Alex für deine Mühe und deinen besonderen Sound. Und nun genug der Worte --- möge „kundalini schingeling“ mit euch sein.

So bunt wie unser Festival selbst: von Four-to-the-Floor-Krachern über Dubstep und Downbeat bis hin zu Sprachsample-Spaß. Und ganz ehrlich: Das ist doch genau das, was wir alle jetzt dringend gebrauchen können. Also lauscht und tanzt mit uns, habt Spaß – und bleibt gesund und munter!
