Haunted Kingdom 001

This set, originally titled "Darling, I Think I Like You," was for a show I played in Vancouver, shortly after a close friendship turned into an unexpected situationship before falling through and concluding the overall relationship. While, in retrospect, it was for the best, things could have gone smoother. The storyline behind this mix, thenceforth, follows a journey through darkness and light, exploring the back-and-forth emotions typically attached to the start of relationships. I scrambled for the two days before to get it ready for the show, so I was a little laissez-faire with it at times, but that's where the beauty of this mix shines, such that I made it in the present moment, embodying a vulnerable yet free-flowing state of emotion.

Yoko, also known as Emi, strives to recreate the realms that exist in her own mind, and mold them into sonic experiences. Although originally from Tacoma, Washington, the esteemed producer has sculpted her sound from the influences of the Colorado underground scene. The focus of the Denver based Yoko project is to deliver heavy bass and unique soundscapes that evoke movement emotion.

Channeling a love affair with classic '90s hip-hop, an affinity for otherworldly themes and an ear for raw funk, Barclay Crenshaw uses his given birth name to bare his soul and deliver a slowed-down, emotive collection of collaborations and instrumentals. His 2017 self-titled debut album was a left-field departure from his better-known alias, Claude VonStroke, but the quality is undeniably the same.
