Things I want to say

I used to think he was the lucky one, 
still got all his arms and legs,
great potential for success (if he learned how to wash his clothes.)
But after he was able
to drink a beer in public
life began to fall apart as he knows it.
Still living at home with his old dog and cat,
he sat in his room and listened
to the hateful words exchanged by his father and mother.
That woman fell out of love like Romeo
halfway to 100.
And father started drinking a little more…
His baby sister, still partially intact,
got sad because she felt no love
at all anymore.
So he took her in and loved her
just as a brother should.
And his mother moved away
to a cottage on a farm
and she learned how to love
her son and daughter again.
I used to think he was the lucky one,
still got all his arms and legs,
great potential for success…
