I made this instrumental in 2013 when I only used my laptop and Reason to make music. This is the first time sharing this beat with anyone other than close friends.

I remember hanging out at my friend's place and we were listening to samples. He played a loop and I grabbed The Pharcyde's Can't Keep Running Away acapella and pitched it down. We just kind of banged it out, I did all the scratches.

We used to have this great night at The Dinkytowner called Run Ya Jewels. It was a night of friendly competition for up and coming producers. There would be different themes and challenges. For this one, we all had to use the same samples. I remember rocking this out with a Korg Electribe ESX. I got a really good crowd reaction and thought I should have placed with this beat, but I didn't. Them's the breaks.

This is a weird beat I have no name for so I'm just gonna list the stuff I used to make it: Elektron Monomachine, TR-909 (yeah, I used to own one), a distressor, and a Chandler germanium EQ all recorded into Ableton. I was once a hardware nut. This was made a super long time ago.
