It has always been said that nostalgia is that common meeting point that we all share equally. A place where a simple bath of memories is capable of brightening up the darkest and most distressed days. In Parallel Universe, Dsum transports us back to those times when the depth of old school house and techno nourished our spirits.
 
After launching the ‘BDR’ digital series on his own label Back Door Records, the Colombian DJ and producer returns with a new full-length album that perfectly encapsulates that deep attribute he has worked so well over the years. Parallel Universe is made up of eleven tracks, which were the result of recording sessions worked between 2018 and 2020.
 
Inspired by the vast expressions of spatiality, the album conveys that unparalleled essence of the Detroit of yesteryear, an era when labels like Transmat and Metroplex elevated us in body and soul. “Aurora”, the opening track, deploys that robotic grooviness through the MOSTRO, an FM synthesizer assembled in the middle of the mountains of Medellín. “Delta”, “237 Miles” and “Mado”, on the other hand, showcase the deepness seasoning characteristic of Dsum, bringing back those timeless old school vibes from the windy city.
 
His favorite pick, “Night Decompression”, slowly assembles that dancefloor climax that makes you lose any notion of time in the midst of obscurity, a state where the music continues without any kind of prejudice.
 
Parallel Universe is, therefore, an album that keeps vivid a handful of sonic memories carved by an artist who refuses to compromise his creative authenticity. Through a much more mature and classic sound, programmed and sequenced by himself, Dsum shows the simplicity of his ideas, while embracing countless emotions that his space in time has brought with it.

If you decide to look up the strict definition of an outsider in any dictionary, you'll find that the term is understood as "a person who is not involved with a particular group of people or organization or who does not live in a particular place."

Perhaps this is the most accurate description of Santiago @Merino. For a long decade and from his native Medellín, this DJ and producer have always tried to keep his sonic spectrum open. An interdisciplinary artist capable of freely navigating through a myriad of genres is rarely encountered, and that may be the reason why Santiago enjoys a non-negotiable respect in the different scenes that make up the music circuit of his city.

On this occasion, Back Door Records is pleased to serve as host to receive one of the most anticipated facets within the range of music produced by this Colombian artist. The Outsider marks the debut of a new project signed by Merino, a new hunch in which house takes the helm of an EP entitled 4 Club Use.

Composed of five tracks, 4 Club Use seems to show us the true essence behind a genre that has almost been trivialized over the years. In this case, El Outsider decided to take the basic ingredients of tech house to produce a recipe much richer in flavors, textures, and melodies. "Fire People", for example, leaves the window open for the airs of Detroit techno to come in and cool off any sunny afternoon. "Outsider" and "The Heat," on the other hand, are seasoned by the purest amen breaks, as if it were a blessing intended solely for the dance floor.

But the real deal across 4 Club Use is definitely El Outsider's own edit of Merino's track "Those Days." Raw and forceful kicks, meticulously sampled vocals, and pads that seem to wrap them magically, make this bomb one of the candidate tracks to take the absolute podium of 2023.

Stepping on the alley for his Back Door debut, the Cleveland-born and house music producer @bontempomusic prepares his new EP 'For The Life Of Me' with four devastating cuts of seething and fun pounding rhythms. 

As part of the St Pete's soundscapes, he finds himself in a common ground between House and Techno, interested in breaks and the rougher, sometimes straight-up acid, edges.

With a driving pad and a well-sited bass, "Not What You Think" makes for a contemporary-classical take on the typically deep side of House. "Correlating Times"  it's set up to dominate every outside-situated sound system with a cut of an early evening vibe loaded by an acid bass-line.

As gives name to the EP "For The Life Of Me" ventures into new territories, its murky presence gives off a dark, acid-electro vibe letting us know Santino's new horizons. And last but not least, "Collect" slowly pushes down on the accelerator as the moon shows its face with an upbeat sound across the sky.

"Verdor," the Spanish term for verdancy, embodying the lush appearance of flourishing vegetation, serves as the thematic core of this release by Aurumm. In navigating the realm of dub-infused dance music, Aurumm weaves the dynamic qualities of nature into each track. To be released under his own label, Back Door, his fourth album is the culmination of years of introspective musical exploration, tracing its origins back to the lockdown period of 2020. Talking about DJ MELEJ means talking about perseverance and hard work. He's a pioneer of the Venezuelan house-techno scene. Since 1998, he's been rocking the best parties nationwide, creating multiple projects and events that have been crucial for future generations in electronic music. His ventures include VOKODEK MUSIC (record label founded in 2005), 1000DRAGONES (radio show since 2010), and GREENSIDE FEST, all contributing to his artistic development.

After residing in Buenos Aires from 2015 to 2019 and playing successful gigs across Argentina & Uruguay, he moved to Bogota where he embarked on various projects such as his radio show (CLUBBASS RADIO) and residency at MAD RADIO. He also contributed to the vinyl compilation "X" by the Spanish label Moodulab, Invariations record, Bogoture Records, alongside performances at different events, festivals, and prominent clubs like Video Club, Kaputt, Calle 9+1, among others.

In 2023, he's currently working on the creative process of Clubbass Records, a vinyl-oriented label exploring various electronic genres. Additionally, he's involved in curating and developing the nights of 12” SOLO VINYL with Discos del Espacio (Vinyl Store) in the Colombian capital.

Hailing from Colombia’s coffee mountains, D_fected has been a driving force in the local underground for over two decades — from shaping the Eje Cafetero scene to co-founding projects like ATARAXIS and Parque Sonoro, where music meets education, culture, and community.

For our 50th guest mix, he draws a deep and sophisticated narrative — starting in soulful, emotive house before slipping into minimalist textures, dubby layers, and Afrofuturist grooves. It’s introspective without losing the pulse, nostalgic without falling into the usual tropes.

Radioshow: Episode 50 / D_fected

Dsum returns with another Acid Delivery, pushing deeper into the raw sound of Acid House.
This two–track single splits in two directions — one a straight shot of 303 intensity, the other a darker, Detroit–infused exploration of rhythm and texture.

On the first cut, the 303 version, the lines twist and squelch with relentless pressure, evoking the spirit of classic acid house while keeping the pulse sharp and immediate for today’s floors.
The second version shifts gears, channeling Detroit’s techno lineage with stripped–down rhythm, deep drive, and a hypnotic architecture that locks dancers into motion.

Together, these tracks extend the Acid Delivery concept into a new chapter — urgent, underground, and unapologetically physical.


BDR15 / Dsum - Acid Delivery 2 / Snippets

Back Door Records dig back down under to bring a fresh and salty Floridian connection to the road with a VA compilation well curated by Dsum. 

As head of BDR, he has been responsible to catch some of the most promising new underground sounds coming out from Miami and Orlando introducing in this release to Atomyard, Mon & Dan Gore. 

Florida Connection is the first of a full series of compilations that represents an aesthetic of sampling, fresh rhythms, and deep textures to instruct into the dancefloor. 

The groovy titled ‘House Did it’ open the compilation with five minutes of jazzy chords with a robotic voice over a well structured funky bassline. Followed by Dan Gore’s interpretation ‘Astrida’s Flute’, a percussive, emotive and hypnotic cut for those who like organic sounds. 

Around the wax, Dsum’s track ‘Baked from the Souls’ is a pure Deep House meditation floating in a deeply acid bass. 

Closing out the EP, from an inspired cab conversation in Detroit, ‘Motorcity Angels’ draws a vibe of hypnotic and filtered samples that bring back the old sound of the Classic House.

From Bogota and influenced by the old school sound of the dance music he is releasing these three brisk tempo but chasmic cuts loaded in a compact groove and travel over subtle melodies.

Sharp Tea sets the mood of the release combining hunky drums & unfaded pads to maximum effect, while the second cut ramps up the emotion without sacrificing any intensity and adding the jazzy touch with a crunchy rhodes melodie.

Flipping side, Cid The Champion brisk with a fat kick and intense bass line kneading the groove, also remixed by Back Door’s head Dsum.

Cid The Champion is going out on March 12 via Back Door.
