ONHELL <3's YOU 2022 MIX [all original all unreleased]

Welsh duo https://soundcloud.com/lsn-uk take the helm of our mix series this week in celebration of the imminent release of their album "Misuse of Power" on Youngsta's label https://soundcloud.com/sentryrecords . Among a large body of work, LSN have previously released one track on DDD "Pees and Bees" under their alter egos Feonix and Na Kika.

"Misuse of Power" is a paranoid, tense and brooding piece of work inspired by the darkness of the times we're living in. With collabs and features from the likes of  Flowdan, Youngsta, Zameen-A, Ruby, Kujo, Roger Robinson and Rider Shafique.

Welcome to Hydra Radio, a multi-genre mix series showcasing Hydra artists and special guests! Volume XXIX features our friend and one of our favorite dubstep dealers -  Substance.  With many upcoming releases in the works and start of his 2025 North American touring, we're pumped to get the time with Marc to be able to showcase this mix.  Big ups to sharing a Gunfingaz Thursday with this release! Substance is a dubstep producer based in Sherbrooke, QC, Canada. His journey began in 2011 after discovering PK Sound and the vibrant West Coast Canadian rave scene. By 2012, he started promoting events with friends underthe DirtyCake brand, bringing major dubstep acts like Truth, Goth Trad, and Hatcha to his hometown. These efforts helped build a dedicated bass music community and provided platforms for rising artists like Wraz.

After a decade of promoting shows and working at festivals across Canada, Substance shifted focus to his own productions. He quickly gained recognition, earning releases on renowned labels such as Sentry Records, Deep Dark & Dangerous, Wheel & Deal, and Nomine Sound. Expanding his repertoire, Substance has also dropped tracks on Boogie T’s Drama Club Recording and has forthcoming releases on J:Kenzo’s Artikal Records. Collaborations with artists like Antennae and Abstrakt Sonance further showcase his range and ability to cross genres within bass music.

In addition to producing, Substance co-hosts Gunfingaz Thursday with Wraz, a popular Twitch stream that has become a go-to platform for highlighting emerging DJs and producers in the North American dubstep scene.

His live performances have graced some of the continent’s top festivals, including Shambhala Music Festival, Bass Coast, Infrasound, and Lightning in a Bottle. These
appearances, combined with consistentreleases and community involvement, cement his reputation as a dynamic force in bass music.

With an exciting 2025 on the horizon, Substance continues to push boundaries, blending styles and elevating the global dubstep scene.

HYDRA RADIO VOLUME XXIX | SUBSTANCE

Kaeli Hertz began her journey in the Bay Area, California, where she studied audio engineering in San Francisco. She went on to intern at several of the region’s most prestigious studios, including Fantasy Studios and Ninth Street Opus. Under the mentorship of producer Jim Greer—best known for his work with Foster the People, Macy Gray, The Hieroglyphics, and more—Kaeli began creating remixes for his eclectic roster of artists, eventually moving into writing her own music.

She launched her DJ career as the resident DJ for the Oakland Poetry Slam, where she honed her skills in live performance and curation. Now based in her hometown of Portland, Oregon, Kaeli has immersed herself in the city’s vibrant bass music scene. Her sound is a dynamic fusion of styles and cultural influences, rooted in a deep connection to rhythm and the shared energy that unites us all.

This mix is my tribute to what it truly means to be an artist — to challenge the norm, to offer something unexpected, to disrupt the repetition of what's already been done. It’s a medley of soundscapes, genres, and emotions, woven together to bridge differences and create a shared rhythm. My intention is to connect the unique with the universal - Hope you feel it.
